Coach K on the Hurricanes: (From the Sun Sentinel)

Larrañaga and legendary Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski squared off 15 times after Larrañaga took over as Miami’s coach in 2011 (with the Hurricanes going 7-8 in that tenure). The two became well-acquainted over that 11-season stretch before Krzyzewski retired last year.

Krzyzewski now hosts a radio show on SiriusXM, and he said during his show that he thinks the Hurricanes have a shot to reach the program’s first title game.

“[The Hurricanes] have an amazing chance to win,” Krzyzewski said. “Connecticut has rolled over everybody. They’re not going to roll over Miami. And I’m not saying Connecticut can’t beat them. I’m saying Connecticut has not been in a 40-minute game in the Tournament.”

Krzyzewski had kind words for Omier, saying he would have liked him on any of his Duke teams. Krzyzewski won five national championships with the Blue Devils.

“I’d like Omier on every team that I would have,” Krzyzewski said. “He’s the strongest guy on the court. But all five of their guys, including him, are great with the ball. They have five guys out there who handle the ball well. And he’s 250 pounds, so he can defend anybody.

Interesting development

Looks great on Coach L. I don’t believe too much in “team of destiny” given Houston had a great story line heading into this season (prior deep runs, natty in backyard, Sampson redemption) and we crushed their dreams, but this team does feel special, and it’s because they are. Coach L deserves this, man. Hope the team continues to play well

This is old. They fasted for a day last week it seems, the day they played Arkansas. N/A to our game.

Ongoing, but with the later tip will be able to eat a bit before the game instead of waiting until halftime

“In some ways, things will be a bit easier for Sanogo now that the Huskies have reached the Final Four. UConn and Miami are scheduled to play the second game on Saturday, after San Diego State and Florida Atlantic, with a local tip time of 7:49 p.m. in Houston.

With the sunset scheduled for 7:40 that evening, Sanogo will not have time to digest a full meal. But this time, the fruit and coconut water won’t have to wait until halftime.”

The one thing I heard on field of 68 is that they lack a true PG. How will this affect us on both sides of the ball? I know they have some point forward that I’m assuming Miller will guard. I’ll take my guy all day vs whoever. Also is this a team we can kill with speed to the basket?

The spread opened 5.5 and hasn’t budged. It will, but as of now nothing. If I was betting Miami (I’m not touching the game, just rooting for the win), I’d bet us to win the title at +450 or so.

Had forgotten how insane that game was back in 2003. What. A. Shot.
I will never ever forget the ending to that game. I was only 14 yrs old watching it and very early into my Canes Fandom but I remember going NUTS whe he stole the inbounds and drained a fade away 3 from the corner. WOW still the best finish to a Canes game ever. Jaquan Newtons 3 from half court vs Unc is pretty close too.
