Dawson did not take Emory. He wasn’t on staff yet. That was a Gattis take. Dawson seems to be pretty good at QB evals and Nickel looks like he’s going to be very good. But I agree 💯 we don’t want to be rolling him out as QB1 next year.

Mendoza would’ve been the best option after Mateer and a perfect bridge to Nickel after 2 years based on how Mario went about the process.

Mendoza was probably the 3rd or 4th best QB in the portal.

I THINK Nickel will be good in a year or two. As we just saw with Emory, it would be malpractice to go into next year without a proven commodity at QB1 in the transfer portal era. But malpractice is Mario’s middle name so I won’t hold my breath.

I wanted mendoza all along, as I though he could get us 10 wins and be a bridge. Also thought someone like Mensah or the moss would have been a better option the mendoza.

I hope to god theirs some sort of plan to this. I'm having dejavu to last year.

Unexpected portal entrants will probably tell us what to expect.
 
Once Mateer signed with Oklahoma, I was shocked we didn't pivot to Mendoza. No, he isn't Cam Ward, but this years portal QB class wasn't chocked with top level QBs. We needed to sign a guy like Mendoza and hope to get a season like Kyle McCord or Tyler Shough just put in. Not sure who option 2 was but Mateer or bust was too risky of a plan at QB.

When you look at our next year’s schedule and what you’ve witnessed with everything in second half of the future already on the way.
Do you see everything being fixed to compete at the level of the teams we’re to play over the summer ?
I feel we all got a glimpse of what’s coming, I don’t know if you feel this way or feel we’ll go 11-0 .

I want the best for us , now the greatest QB in recent history is gone will we be able to score 50 points a game or is everything boom a quick fix to chase NC ring ?

If we sign a good/decent QB out of the portal & revamp the defensive side of ball with a new DC/portal players I’m not so down on next season. Mario has work to do but our run game and young guys showed a lot of good things last night..but if we don’t address the QB situation its gonna be a lonnng season & hopefully Luke is that guy cause Emory ain’t it at all.
