Sorry if this was posted in another thread, if it was I was not able to find it...

This enrages me:

In NFL locker rooms and on Twitter accounts, they voiced their displeasure with the university's unprecedented decision.

"Sometimes I guess you feel like the school doesn’t have your back," said Miami Dolphin Olivier Vernon, a member of the 2011 Hurricane team that also sat out a bowl ban. "You work so hard in the season to get to a bowl game, get to ACC championship, and to know that your school gave up a bowl bid kinda hurts a little bit but I’m not there so I ain’t worrying about it right now."

He is part of the reason we had to take the ban in the first place and he is ****ed at the University? How about he looks in the mirror. What a jackass.

While he is probably not the guy to be saying much, considering his role in this whole spiel...but what he says, isn't exactly wrong.

One of the very very very few Canes I don't root for. *** Vernon

And how many players would come out *****ing next year if we had to sit out then b/c we didnt take it this year and are (theoretically) better? And like you said, of all former players, he should know to keep his mouth shut. ****, he should be apologizing to the team for playing a role in them having to take another ban.

I've said it a few times, I just think the human element is missing in all of the discussion on this. It is easy for us as fans to say "well, we needed to do this!" but, the situation is pretty ****ed up for the players that are here regardless. They are making sacrifices for the a school that isn't sacrificing for them. And, unlike USC or Penn State, these kids really don't have a choice without penalty to themselves, and haven't exactly been informed on the matter to make an educated decision for themselves. We've self-imposed post-season bans for two seasons very late in each season, after games were already played and kids were working toward a goal.

I've said before, I understand what the University is doing, and everyone else is quick to be all about these post-season bans, but the end result is pretty ****ed up for the players.

Just another overhyped, underperforming SHammin kid who NEVER achieved his potential here. This guy's nothing but a punk and a pus*sy. lol.

Oh I am totally with you; it absolutely sucks for the current players and I could understand them expressing their frustration, but for a player who isn't even at the school anymore and who is directly responsible (although only partially), he would be much better served by not saying anything or expressing sorrow that his actions played a role in the school deciding to ban itself again. And it's not just that he is commenting, it's the way he is. Tyler Horn said it was unfair how the NCAA punishes innocent players; if Vernon had said that, I would not have an issue with him, but he attacked the administration as if they were at fault and as if they really had a choice.

Honest question my man. Would you rather us play the season out, POSSIBLY play in the ACCCG, and then POSSIBLY play in the Orange Bowl? Seems like we would be only prolonging the agony, and giving future recruits a reason to steer clear. Seems like a silly arguement.

Sorry but when you are a direct part of the problem and reason why this is happening in the first place, you have no opinion on the matter. So Vernon can **** off

Idiotic statement by Vernon. He had the longest suspension of anyone. Even if it were Jacory, who was only found to have taken like 150 bucks, it would be wrong. But Vernon took like 6500 dollars IIRC. **** him and his stupid fohawk.

There isn't a right answer. But, I'm not the biggest fan of how the kids that are here right now have no choice in the matter and are ultimately being punished for something they had nothing to do with.

I gotta side with the anti-Vernons on this one. Dude has no rght to open his jiz trap when he was the source of the problem.

I dont think he was saying not to take the bowl ban, but just to look at the other side by being in a current players shoes (which you seem to overlook). We are fans of the school and super fanatics (just by the sheer amount of time we devote to a freaking website to discuss) but these players have a limited window to do what they dream to do, being in a situation where you work hard then at the end they say you cant go to bowl, sucks and it feels like betrayal because the admin made the decision. These are rational grown ups who can understand, though some can (like a mike james) but some others might not take it well and when you look at the circumstances can you really blame them?

I know as a fan we want these guys to just see it our way but it doesnt always work that way (human element)

What is the big deal in what he said?

The school doesn't have the players back cuz they banned another bowl game.. Did you not read it?? Pretty clear we're in this mess because of players like him.. Pretty selfish in my book used to be a fan of Olivier but **** him now.. Guy isnt very bright..

To be fair, Vernon paid back his benefits and was suspended and paid the piper for his piece in this pie.
