Ezekiel Marcelin commits to Miami

No he doesn't fit the measurables profile. However recall the words of @DMoney from the 2024 class cycle last year when explaining the Daylen Russell take. "The plan is to take a couple of super productive, great character local kids every year who may not have the ideal measurables and surround them with super studs who do have the measurables. What are Marcellin's grades like? I think you will find they are excellent. It would fit the profile.
Hey I hear ya… sometimes you need to take some character guys who bring work ethic and a certain attitude to the overall roster.

Being a 4 year starter at central is nothing to downplay…. At minimum he can hopefully excel on STs and make sure we don’t see the Ragones of the world take real meaningful snaps other than in FAMU blow outs

Also, people forget, we are not in the same shape as a LB corps as we were when Corey Flagg was recruited. We are much deeper and much more competitive. Ezekiel Marcellin is going to have to compete for a spot just like Bobby Washington, Adarius Hayes, Cam Pruitt, Chase Smith, and Elijah Melendez who just shut down his recruitment. Forget the film and whether you think it's 3 star or not. That is irrelevant. Kid is going to have to go up against some really stiff(pause) competition. If he can make it through that and he wins a job then he will have earned it.

Where was he listed at 220lb? 3p pounds is a big difference.

Look, I also want to point out, in college I typically don't like pointing out size only. You can be undersized in college and be an absolute terror. Happens all the time.

However, I didn't see that in the tape either. The tape looked like 3 star tape (to me).

Sean Spence was 6'0 186 coming out of HS. Very similar size to this guys profile size. However, Spence was a heat seeking missile on the field.

If you're telling me this kid is 220lbs now (or close) then he's listed similar to Denzel Perryman (6' 220lbs). However, Denzel literally took heads off on his tape and was almost arrested for murder a few times.

Don't see any of that on this kids tape. He's not bad, but nothing pops out to (and I think something should if you're his size).
Rivals 247 has the lighter weight and On3 has the 220 listing. I haven't watched his tape. But kids having a growth spurt isn't all that uncommon. Gotta trust the coaches who have all just seen him in person, if they gave him a green light I highly doubt he's 190 with limited upside.

Haven’t seen the tape but this sounds like the kind of kid we’ve dragged our feet with for the past 15 years quibbling over an inch and 10 pounds, then start recruiting hard 2 weeks before signing day when we don’t get the 5 star we were 5th for, and he tears it up at South Carolina, Indiana, or Syracuse. It’s ok to just take takes and not f around waiting for whales. I like the kids name. Sounds like he’s good at football.

Exactly
Plus how big was Sean Spence, Denzel, Vilma...even Gavin Nix 5'11

"Exactly" what? Him looking good in practice drills mean he's killing it? I swear you didn't even watch the video. How about let's let Shavers get a few games in under his belt before we hope this guy turns out to be like him. Because the only thing that has been confirmed is that Shavers was an undersized prospect that got pushed out from our class.

I think this is a charity pick up. Local guy from a school that has treated UM well. If Mario is truly an height weight speed guy then this commitment does fit the bill exactly. But welcome to the U....
Highly productive player from a feeder school.

The kind of guy that went to Syracuse under Diaz and co and we'd ask how we missed on them.

I don’t remember his name on Dmoney players on possible commitment watch..

People complaining about this take is the best evidence possible that Mario is recruiting at an extremely high level.

This is a borderline 4* LB who has plenty of P4 offers, is a good athlete, and is a highly productive 4 year starter at Central.

Under Manny, we'd be celebrating this and expecting him to start as a frosh. Under Mario, he'll likely be our lowest ranked LB commit and face a lot of competition just to get on the field. That's far from a bad thing.

And welcome to purgatory.
