Ezekiel Marcelin commits to Miami

If you’re going to take Daylen Russel, then you take 10 Zeke Marcelin’s.
Legit came to post this lol… this definitely feels like a Russel take for the class. The coaches must love his mentality or something… he doesn’t fit that measurables profile they like to harp on

Whatever.. welcome 4 year starter at Central isn’t anything to downplay…

I want to write something but its nothing good to say. I aint saying **** bruh lol

Exactly. Keeping it real doesn’t mean you need to be a dyck. Kid isn’t fast enough to be NFL safety. But he’s **** good closer to the LOS. A four year starter and team captain with 100+ tackles at a powerhouse local school is a kid you want committed. Guy has great instincts and fundamentals. He’ll be a leader in the locker room. Lots to like here.

I was against the Russell take. Hope he crushes it here but wasn’t a fan. How can you not be a fan of this kid though?

Huge fan of the 4 year start at Central but not a huge fan of the 190lbs. The staff need to push the idea of him to gain weight now so he can be a beast when he gets on campus. He also needs to have a huge senior campaign at central this year so he can get a bump in the rankings.

As long as your building depth in front of them (star depth) and establishing home grown HS relationships I have no problem with it. Good for the kid especially if its a dream for him to stay home. Worse case he gets a degree transfers and reps the U, best case he becomes a surprise player. That room is stacked so I understand why they do this early and then hunt for the whales later on. You just cant do a Manny and this is all the types of recruit you recruit, then you are screwed

If our roster was filled with skinny dudes playing LB, i would speak on it. We got Bobby Washington, Popo, Adarius Hayes etc. Big dudes at LB. But teams cannot be so rigid where size is the only thing that matters 🐾🐾🐾🐾 and they pass on good players.

Calling this a token pick up is quote funny. This guy is rated 89 on 247. He is less than a point from being a 4 star, which i dont care about as much, but u do so i mention it. Cameron Pruitt was drawing some of the same criticisms, why go to Bama for s 3 star skinny LB. Etc etc. He only came in and ball out as a spring true FR.

This guy is not athletically deficient. This is not Corey Flagg. He is simply shorter than what they would want as a prototype. People say these players got to Louisville and ball out, wrong. They go to FSU and Penn St and ball out and we are left scratching our heads while he throws down the U.

Recently posted as 220 so that tells me the truth is likely somewhere in the middle, around 205-210. But he has solid offers and if he falls off during senior year MC ain't afraid to drop a kid.
If he’s anywhere north of 205 that’s a relief because he looks pretty filled out on his frame. At 190 would be difficult to add another 30-40 pounds on him but 15-20 should be doable.

No he doesn't fit the measurables profile. However recall the words of @DMoney from the 2024 class cycle last year when explaining the Daylen Russell take. "The plan is to take a couple of super productive, great character local kids every year who may not have the ideal measurables and surround them with super studs who do have the measurables. What are Marcellin's grades like? I think you will find they are excellent. It would fit the profile.

Where was he listed at 220lb? 3p pounds is a big difference.

Look, I also want to point out, in college I typically don't like pointing out size only. You can be undersized in college and be an absolute terror. Happens all the time.

However, I didn't see that in the tape either. The tape looked like 3 star tape (to me).

Sean Spence was 6'0 186 coming out of HS. Very similar size to this guys profile size. However, Spence was a heat seeking missile on the field.

If you're telling me this kid is 220lbs now (or close) then he's listed similar to Denzel Perryman (6' 220lbs). However, Denzel literally took heads off on his tape and was almost arrested for murder a few times.

Don't see any of that on this kids tape. He's not bad, but nothing pops out to (and I think something should if you're his size).

It couldn’t be more different. He’s way ahead of shavers as a player. They played on the same team and it was obvious Marcelin was different. He had nearly double the production of Shavers last year.

Same team here are the stats:
Marcelin: 109 tackles 19 TFL’s 12 sacks
Shavers: 49 tackles 14 TFL’s 7 sacks

I’m not saying he’s elite but this is a guy who’s played at the highest level in HS and made plays all over the field for 3 straight years.
Not talking from a production standpoint, more that he’s going to be LB3 in this class (assuming Nix commits soon) but I don’t see them just giving up on some of the top options on the board, and if one of them pops late (like Hayes did) I’d assume he’s the first one they help find another landing spot. Not commenting on him as a player at all.

Exactly if you don’t like the tape respect 💯 but other ppl just look at size like we haven't seen big for nothing guys before.
