Expand the ******* recruiting footprint

Keep in mind this staff literally got here 25 months ago. Y’all need to understand you don’t build a Florida pipeline in 2 years after Golden basically destroyed it.

Things will get progressively better over the years but it’s not going to happen all at once.

You guy are expecting to compete for a National Championship with Al Golden players.

I have said this over and over, we have all but stopped recruiting Texas. The state is loaded with 300lb linemen, most would jump at the chance to play ball in SoFlo, alto of them have never even see the ocean. I had a direct line with P Garcia from Jimmy till he left for Cleveland with Butch, Kevin Everett was my last coup, when Pete left I bailed. As far as I know we are not active in Texas at all any more, or very little at best. I live in SE Texas which has always been a goldmine, makes no sense that we don't even try to pull any of these kids, there are plenty to go around. I have said for 25yrs if UT ever got the right coach lookout, well they now have a real coach, and the man understands trench warfare. He is loading up on the big boys and fixin to grade a road right through college football MARK MY WORDS.

Been saying.

We should recruit the **** out of Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, and Dallas in addition to just Florida.

Kids are still going to go to LSU if they have the chance except for the few that “want to get away”....but whoever said above “ they are steeped in the bag tradition” couldn’t be more right.
Gonna be awfully hard to pull the top kids out of here without bags because they are getting LARGE bags dropped by most all the $EC as well as Texas, and even TCU who has started to play that game.
If you’re gonna pull a 4-5* kid out La. I doubt you will do it with the promise of beaches and nice ***.
Maybe but not likely.....there is a ****load of talent in this state but just like most talent that is wanted by the $EC big boys it comes with a price.

It takes $$$ to recruit out of state. The size of these major school recruiting staffs are unreal. Valid points, though. We should be able to pull anyone from up north to Miami in the dead of winter. I would love to see those 5 star linemen from Ohio flip off Urban Myth in favor of 0 snow.

I think the staff needs to do a better job of filling this class at position of needs before NSD announcements. Not saying you turn down a Tyson Campbell (save one or two spots for those type) but don't pass on Bonnito's hoping for Louis or Divaad Wilson/Asante Samuel Jr for a kid like Jobe who's publicly playing the game. Rookie mistakes by a veteran HC. Time to adjust.

The OP is not saying this at all. He is saying that we should go after other big name targets in different recruiting areas for backups. An example would be the DT from Texas we missed on. We should have been on him from day 1 not day 300.

We also missed out on the D lineman from the Kansas City area who inked with TX also.

What Brock said. Recruit 70-75% Florida. And I don’t care where the rest comes from. We havent done well north of Orlando and In Jax and now we are focusing there and landing kids. And the area is loaded with top flight kids.

I’m one of the guys who thinks south Florida and Florida talent is better than most other places based on competition.

This is where this staff screwed up imo....they had good kids WANTING to be Canes like Samuel and Divaad and and Chatman and missed on them thinking they had a kid like TC locked up or a kid like Coburn who we got on late. The mistake was not taking 3 4* kids and leaving a spot for Campbell or Coburn or PS2 if by chance he wanted in.You don’t miss on all those kids and then Get bagged with TC and end up with nothing.

Yes we signed a great class but how much better would it have been with Samuels,Divaad and Chatman in it?

I’m hoping this staff learns from this cause if they don’t we can forget about ever playing with the elite.

I’d like to see what our staff spends on recruiting budget vs other schools when we can drive within 50 miles of campus and sign half our class or more.

Its as if Brevin Jordan didnt commit early out of Bishop Gorman or Jarren Williams out of Gwinnett.

The pain is not winning. Thats why Campbell isnt here. Surtain was never coming here but if we want to throw him into the bin because he was South Florida, the answer isn't shotgunning all the other fertile recruitng areas everyone else is also recruiting, its winning and owning your base.

Well if you need bags to get the 5 stars, why not rack up on the 4's, not much different limo. My point here is, in Texas anyway, there are plenty to go around, take a gander at how many signed D1 this year. You know UT and OU gonna get theirs, then LSU and aTm and Bama, that barely puts a dent in the overall number. I just don't think we should be struggling this bad for linemen, maybe the staff has not made it top priority but i bet they will now. No way you could watch that NC game and not realize how big that gap is.

Well this is what got Coker and later Fat Albert in trouble.

I don't give a flying **** what you think, The highschool players down here see superior competition to any other place in the country. We don't need to go sifting through New Jersey or PA 4 stars because when they get down here, they cant hack it on some ***** ****.

80% comes from florida,

20% from surrounding states. I am not going north of the state of georgia's boarder to find players if I can help it. No point unless its a truly special case.

Look back in history, there have been VERY few cases of top top players for us coming from farther than the SE US.

A wildly inaccurate statement, one that is truly indicative of how little you know about the players before they put on the Miami uniform.

My beef is the staff not recognizing that they are getting played by some of these south Florida kids. How long were there rumors that Jobe was trolling us? They need to do a better job of anticipating and have enough time for fall back options.

Tired of this man! Happy for the kids to sign with top programs, but man Miami never lands the "top" players from South Florida. From a recruiting strategy, why are you going all in on players without any viable backup options? Just like kids want to leave South Florida to play ball, kids want to come to Miami and play ball! I've lived in Bama, Louisiana, and Texas and there's no shortage of love for the U in some of these places.

We landed a lot of studs this year but I agree at least with positions of need.

How do you account for Bama winning so many titles, and Clemson showing up a lot lately in the playoffs, and winning one, with so little SFL players actually seeing the field for those teams during those games?

OU has a lot of kids who aren't from the area too. As does OSU and other successful teams.

How do you account for all that success from all those players that aren't from SFL?

I think its simpler. We just need to win bigger games. We can't let the last memory a recruit has of us playing is of us getting stomped out. These kids want to play for winners. Some are canes through and through but this is a new era in recruiting.

We've got to get back to the ACCCG and compete with Clemson. This has got to be the year that Clemson stops annihilating us. Then we've got to win our bowl game. That will improve recruiting the most.
We beat the brakes off #3 Notre Dame on National television . A week after doing the same to #14 VT . We shouldn’t have to win a title every year to keep kids home . It’s obvious we’re on the right track and doing it with the play of many freshmen . If recruits see that and still don’t want to come I don’t think winning a few more games will solve anything .

Why were Georgia and Texas able to recruit so well without winning ? FSU finished only 3 spots behind us after going 7-6, having to reschedule a bum team just to be bowl eligible, and lost their coach . Why didn’t they have to win ?
