Agreed. I can't say I disagree with her take either. Key to me is Duke could have a good season, L'ville as well. Pitt looks to be tough so who knows. There's so much football left to play this is the least of my worries.
The problem about looking at the situation now is that the SEC hasn’t been dominant this season and will in some part cannibalize itself. Up to this point there has been enough examples of non SEC teams being competitive with the rest of their non Bama and UGA league.
I mean Mizzou is top 10 but almost lost to BC? The same Bc who was tooth and nail to knock off MSU at home.
Ole Miss dropped a game to a UK team that looks to be better than their rank and record because they hung in with the Dawgs?
ND beat A&M in their house and Louisville gave them more work on the road than A&M could.
Auburn sucks and lost to Cal who gets no credit for that dub? Mind you Oklahoma was in a dogfight with the same Auburn team and kept it competitive with this supposedly elite Tenn team. If Miami strolls into Cal at midnight and bodies them how much weight does that carry?
LSU lost to USC and almost lost to SC so what happens if Clemson destroys them at the end of the season.
I am sure there are additional examples of mediocrity/parity across the SEC that can be added to the list and you can guarantee that list will grow.
Right now Bama looks really good, Texas looks really good, and UGA looks really good.
Ole Miss lost to the first good team they played, Mizzou is gonna lose to someone. Oklahoma isn’t going to survive. Nor will LSU or A&M. The only question right now is what is Tennessee going to do? The SEC has 4 teams without a blemish, do they beat each other up and make it hard to discern who is best or do a couple of them rise above the rest and squash the second tier teams claim to deserve a spot in the playoff?
As they say that is why you play the games.
Year over year you just don’t see that many teams with 2 or less losses in the same conference. I think by adding the most elite teams from the other conferences to the P2 that number can only go down.
I think one thing you can bank on is that the only way a 3 loss team even has a shot to get into the playoff is if all 3 of those losses come against teams in the top 8 and all of them were in doubt late into the 4th Q
