Ivins saw Nickel in person against Western in South Florida and he didn’t have his best day. I’m sure that is having an impact on his evaluation. It’s hard to shake the first impression.
Tell Ivins that NO Quarterbacks had good days versus us last season. We only allowed 111 YPG passing and 51% completion percentage.

Dia Bell threw for 125 yards at 56% and was sacked 3 times. His best completion was a 48 yard screen pass.

Mendoza threw for 141 yards with 2 pick-6's.

Nickel had 178 with a TD and no interceptions. That's the best performance any QB had against us last season.

How indicative is success at the Elite 11 of college performance? It would be interesting to go back and look at the Final Elite 11 rankings over the past 5-10 years and see how well they correlated with college success.

I don't remember where I read it, or the accuracy of what I read, but it said that overall, the Elite 11 guys do very well in college. I wish I remembered the source.

Edit: There's a small indicator in the next post ⬇️

Greg Biggins echoes @DMoney sentiment on transfer portal QB rather than an unknown recruiting QB.... also says Luke will get a ratings bump

Can't wait for the NIL market to correct itself. Got so many HS prospects that will bust out, and make donors question if the juice is worth the squeeze.

At least with the portal, there is film at the collegiate level to evaluate. You don't get that in HS.

Difference being the elite schools still haven't decided to settle for middle of the road 3*s. Im sure the "college coaches" he is refrencing are the Syracuse, Duke, Purdue of the world.

Here are the winners from the past couple of years:
2016: Tua (NFl)
2017: Justin Fields (NFL)
2018: Spencer Rattler (NFL- might push for starting job in New Orleans)
2019: CJ Stroud (arguably a top 8-12 NFL Qb)
2020: Caleb Williams (first pick)
2021: Cade Klubnick
2022: Jackson Arnold (just drove Gabriel out of Oklahoma)
2023: Julian Sayin (too early. Had a good spring camp)

Pretty good success at first glance. Don’t really feel like diving into this any more
