Luke Nickel displayed some of the better mechanics of the group. The 6-foot-1.5, 215-pounder is a smooth, refined passer. Nickel gets the ball up and out quickly. He also moved well and fluidly despite fighting through an ankle injury. The Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton standout was polished in his drops and was able to play with a noticeable pace and tempo that translates to live action on Friday nights.

Ivins saw Nickel in person against Western in South Florida and he didn’t have his best day. I’m sure that is having an impact on his evaluation. It’s hard to shake the first impression.
Isn’t it his job to be objective? Every QB has a bad day.

Personally. I always had a lot of respect for Ivins when he wrote for he Canes. When he took on the national position he seemed to turn on Miami. Really NOT objective ever. Feels like some of the other writers try to compensate- Petagna and. Biggins in particular.

Accuracy Challenge results for 2nd group: (competitors were placed in groups of 5)

Julian Lewis- 58

Deuce Knight- 53

Luke Nickel- 48

Tramel Jones- 46

Robert McDaniel - 26

On the Pro Day workout, per Biggins at 247, "Nickel with 39 for us, SS Staff had him at 45."
This is one of the biggest discrepancies in scoring. It looks like the discrepancy in scores ranged from 2 pts to 7 pts. 247 scores always lower.
