Yes we went on probation, but as far as kids were concerned we were the bad boys of CFB and they all wanted to play for us (so much so that some agreed to come to Miami on a fvckin track scholarship just so they could play football at The U).

Almost got the death penalty. Didn't have enough players for practice scrimmage.

Obviously the fvckin scholarships lost made the rebuild incredibly difficult. I'm just talking about our image at the time.

Nothing I said was meant to discredit the job Butch did. But those who act like he would walk into Miami today and kill it on the recruiting trails are delusional. It's not cool to play at miami right now. The SEC is what's trendy.

95-99. 8-3, 9-3, 5-6, 9-3, 9-4... That's not exactly what I'd call at the top of CFB.

The brand, not our record/ranking in those few down years (which ironically enough were still better than our BEST records in this decade).

Every So Fla athlete wanted to play at Miami in the 90s. All of em.

The death penalty kept us from bringing a full slate in, but that doesn't change the image of the program in the eyes of 15-19 yr olds in HS who still see the swag, etc.

How do you think Butch got kids to come to Miami on track scholarships to play football? Or snag Reed, Reggie, etc and bring em down to UM. Go ask those guys what they loved about UM, and why they came to Miami. They didn't know **** about how many schollies we lost, etc. They saw a bad *** renegade program and they wanted to be apart of it.

CFB landscape has changed, and not in our favor. SEC is the flavor of the decade and we can't even win the coastal.

We were out here trolling people all over the interwebs. Maybe next time let's just chill the **** out until Richt and staff announce the class before we crow. I'm all for great information and I hope that will continue, but too many on here were too busy starting hashtags and trying to act like we did something before it was over. We just lost 2 of the prospects we were supposed to close with and didn't even get a visit from the best WR we were recruiting all year. The guys left are still good, but we just **** the bed after drawing a lot of eyes to us.

I've been noticing the same thing. Wait until Wednesday is all I'm saying. I'm not bashing Pete as he's relaying info to us. But some posters on here hold Pete accountable for how things take a quick right turn. Pete's merely a source of recruiting information, and a **** good one. He has no influence on these kids and he doesn't have a crystal ball on where these kids end up.

But as was mentioned, there are no sure fire 100% locks in this class. There's the ones where they most likely end up here in Dean and Harley. But even then neither is 100% IMO. But for anyone to say that CJ and Edwards were locks as Canes were sipping on the Canes lemonade. I've always been skeptical since they both decommitted respectfully and I'll stay consistent with that until that LOI comes in.

But brock needs to lay off with the enforcer act given that some of us aren't new to the crooting game.

Thomas is like Harley. He has really limited his own options. It is even more extreme in his case. He didn't visit any other schools. Didn't meet any other coaches. Hasn't been on any of the campuses in his top 3 in any capacity besides Miami.

Dean and bandy are still our most important dub recruits. That's why I think even without Henderson or Edwards this is still a good dab class. I honestly think Carter, Dean and Bandy (nickel) will all be starters this season. I think getting Henderson and Edwards would probably be the best dub class we could have hoped for and I definitely want them bad. But I'm still very happy with dean and bandy, and don't think that's much to about. And most importantly this doesn't seem like a case of coaches inability to recruit, its the kids just being retarded

I agree; and you did say potentially, so my fault. Realistically, I think we land Thomas, Harley, and Dean. I'm not expecting any surprises. Something about McFarland took the wind out of the sails and then we had a crack head fan who decided to create a fake story on UF...all not good looks.
