Edouard Commits

I haven't been back to Canestime in a long time. Can someone explain why Mike thought this would be a kid we just wouldn't recruit? What did I miss?

What I gathered is Mike just doesnt think he is Miami good so he assumed we wouldnt go after him

Right. I figured. But, why did he say he wasn't good? Accuracy? What is it? I'll put it this way: Edouard is 15 levels above Stephen Morris as a HS QB.

I love Allen Edward, but perhaps some guys are a little skeptical of his sub 50% completion percentage and his 9TD/9INT poor numbers. I'm all about potential, but he had a really nice WR and still put up bad numbers. It's going to be fun watching him this year to see if he develops and his production sky rockets kind of like what happened with Bob Marve in HS.

It's all about skillsets and what can be done with them. People can be skeptical of his numbers, but he's a loose HS kid. I'd be more skeptical of a guy who hits 65% of his passes, but has a wicked release.

He has everything I'd want to mold in a QB.

I agree that he's a great prospect. Sometimes, you can't teach accuracy with some guys, and like Ron Jaworski says all the time, accuracy is the most important thing a QB has.

Not sure if Allen's that sort of guy, but sometimes it's like seeing a wild pitcher who can run it up there at 100 mph and has a ton of movement, but his location is pure garbage. There are guys like that who never do polish their location despite all those natural gifts. Same goes for some basketball players who look like the 2nd coming physically but just can never learn to shoot the rock no matter how hard they work.

I like HS QBs who are great leaders with great physical gifts who also get it done between the white lines. So far, it seems like Allen meets the first 2 prongs but not the third. Like I said, it'll be a lot of fun to watch him this year to see if he dramatically improves his production because, no matter how much we get fixated on physical talent, the games are won and lost by producers.

He mentioned his TD/INT and completion percentage

He said he is small and not that fast

He's not "Miami" good...but the guy that has Christian Hackenburg in his '13 class, worked with Tom Brady, and fixed Matt McGloin, thinks he's "Penn State good"

Think I'll go with O'Brien on this one.

very quick release, I played for a school that plays Independence High School in Charlotte, NC. (where Chris Leak and Mohammed Massaquoi went). It reminds me a ton of Leaks release, almost as if he is pushing the ball straight out. Regardless of how it translates in the NFL game, a quick release while being incredibly mobile (where leak wasn't really gifted in) is an awesome combination that i'm sure Coley will be able to utilize perfectly at Miami.

Think we take one more pocket passing type QB? Next year we will have 5 on full rides.

I don't see anything in his release or physical ability (feet, height, agility) to indicate that he can't fix his balance issues - typically the biggest reason young QBs aren't accurate. I'll watch him live a handful of times during this upcoming season.

I'm guessing that after this spring when Coley gets to see Dewey and Crow 1st hand at least one will be transferring. Those are Fisch's guys and I'm sure Coley would rather have his own.

i agree with you that one may transfer, but I don't believe for a second that it's because "Coley would rather have his own". I don't think we would dishonor a scholarship just because a new offensive coordinator comes into town. He may way find himself at the bottom of the depth chart but thats up to the kids themselves

We wouldn't dishonor it. But I'm sure Coley and Golden will keep it real with them and tell them with Olsen coming in, and at least 2 more 2014 QBs next year....their chances of ever playing here are slim to none. We wouldn't yank their scholly but we'd definitely give them a hint or two.

Does anyone have that pic from junior day where Edouard has the helmet on throwing up The U and Golden is behind him creepin?

I dont know much about him. Is he a stud at qb?

I saw his video a couple of weeks ago. A lot on this board or another one, can't remember which, questioned his release. I watched him and I saw a very short release and a quick snap that got the ball there very quickly. It reminded me of Marino Not a big wind-up, but a short, quick, efficient release and, as i recall, good arm strength. Also, he is very mobile. He would not be our traditional pocket passer but a guy who can escape and can run. A very athletic QB. I think it's a very good pickup.

I haven't read through this or the other threads, I'm sure you'll see a lot of opinions, and a lot of good ones.

Love this pick-up. Even if he's a bit of a project it's worth taking him after we got Olsen last year. He should have time to develop his craft before he's needed to play signinficant snaps.

I'd love to hear opinions of guys who have seen him play live, is he a gamer? Is he the type of kid that just makes plays when his team really needs it?

Regardless of whether he can throw the ball or ever develops as a QB, he seems to be a special athlete who can play WR for us if QB doesn't work out. Dude is fast as ****.

Bakas is the same guy who flew to California to watch Kyle Wright and crowned him as the second coming of Jesus Christ. His track record on evaluating QBs isn't the greatest.
