Edouard Commits

1775 and Jerzey,

Why don't we let Pete handle this one. Can we request an interview with the coach or player to sort out the stats issue?

Sounds good to me. While we're at it, can he contact someone from the herald as well to see where they got those complete game stats from? I don't think I've ever seen something that detailed be that far off.

What I gathered is Mike just doesnt think he is Miami good so he assumed we wouldnt go after him

Right. I figured. But, why does he say he isn't good enough? "Probably a Div 1 kid" is a heavy comment. Accuracy? What is it? I'll put it this way: Edouard is 15 levels above Stephen Morris as a HS QB.

Care to expand on that? I don't particularly remember Morris' high school film, but watching that film of Edouard I came away unimpressed. He certainly looks like a good athlete, fast with good burst, but I saw nothing that makes me think he can play QB at a high level at the next level.

The throwing mechanics are awful. Most of the film is him taking off out of the pocket and outrunning what appears to be outmatched defenders. I didn't see one throw (admittedly only watched half the film, will watch rest later) that showed the good type of arm strength (out pattern or comeback pattern). Yes, he launched it 50 yards a few times, but looked like questionable decisions and average accuracy every time he did.

I think his future is at slot receiver, not QB.

My exact same thoughts after watching his film.

If you got a chance to see Stephen Morris in HS, you'd have never thought the guy would be a multiple year starter here. He was erratic. His footwork was all over the place. He didn't produce at times and against wildly inferior competition (like my old HS). When Kayvon Webster left, he couldn't efficiently spread the ball around. He couldn't get on balance or in rhythm to make throws. His release wasn't consistent. He was basically a very raw prospect with an insanely strong arm.

Personally, I have no idea what you guys are seeing re: "awful" mechanics with Edouard. You'd have to show me, I guess. I'm fairly obsessive about QB releases and mechanics. I think they make all of the difference between finding a window and not. I'm open to learn something from what you guys are seeing that I don't.

I rewatched again. I defer to your ability to gauge mechanics, I admittedly am no expert.

Looks like most of the throws he makes are fly patterns. You mentioned finding a window...that is exactly what I don't think he can do. It looks like he kind of short-arms his throws. Kinda looks like it costs him velocity on his ball.

He makes a nice, accurate deep throw at the 1:30 mark. Look at the throw at 2:29, though. He wanted to and tried to put zip on that ball, and the pattern and coverage both called for it. Yet he just doesn't have it. My feeling is that you can gain some arm-strength with the workout programs and whatnot, but a lot is natural - either you have a cannon or you don't. I think he does not.

Throw at 2:58. One of several I've seen that are fly patters into double coverage. Not gonna cut it at the next level.

I dont find him to be inaccurate. But I would only consider his accuracy "average."

I love the kid, because he seems like he is all Cane. I love the kid as an athlete, and think he definitely contributes. In the open field, he looks like god **** Michael Vick. His vision, burst, cuts, moves, are all unreal.

I just question whether the best position for him is at QB. I like the kid from Kentucky (or wherever it is) better, at this point at least.
