Getting late early on DL recruiting.

Lightfoot is a tremendous prospect, borderline legit 5-star IMO on the edge.

Jones is much of the same inside, an excellent prospect by any measure.

But we all know we need several more kids at these spots. Those 2 and Russell are not gonna cut it.

Of the kids we were significantly in play for:

Stewart now off the board
Scott off the board
Rudolph off the board, but maybe there is a potential for a flip?
Gilmore off the board
Kendall Jackson off the board
Jayden Jackson off the board

So who is still in play?

Kam Franklin is probably target #1 right now, but after 6 visits, still no commitment
Collin Simmons uncommitted, but unlikely
David Stone, looking like OU
TJ Lindsey, not coming
LJ McCray, unlikely as of now
Aydin Breland still in the realm of possibility

So unless we flip some kids, which of course is unlikely, our best case scenario is adding Franklin and Breland to the 3 we have committed? That would be fantastic, but that's adding probably both of the only kids we have a shot with. Unless I'm missing something?

There's a real chance we end up with Lightfoot, Jones, Russell, and then some lower ranked kids who were not priorities this summer. That's not good enough, IMO. And that's with holding onto the commits we do have, which we know Jones has at least somewhat flirted with Five Stars Undrafted.

Who am I missing? I'll judge the class when the ink dries, but as I said, getting real late real early here with what we all wanted to be one of the very best DL classes in the country.

Have to completely reshuffle the board and lower expectations.

I read all the reports, I wouldn't say lock by any means and probably not even lean, but if he is leaning anywhere, I would think it's probably them and not us.
you wouldnt say lean? idk i guess we read differently then. id say lean for sure. lock may be a stretch but he isnt coming here

We're basically at the stage that we can't miss on Franklin and Breland. I also wonder if maybe Rudolph is the flip that Dmoney mentioned thats closer to happening that people are not focusing on.

Other than that we're gonna need to rely on the on-field product helping us flip someone down the road. Which I'm weirdly cautiously optimistic about after really looking at the roster heading into fall camp

And there you go, they just offered Marcus Downs, a 3-star out of SC.

I'm the biggest Mario as a recruiter supporter that you can be, but this is disappointing as it stands today. Again, 4 months till ESD. We can flip kids, there are still some uncommitted kids. But standing here on 8/1, with so many of the big targets committed elsewhere and now we're extending new offers to 3-star kids, it's not great.

Time to develop them 3 star Zo evals
We going to win but not at the level of dominance I was thinking with Mario. Too much parity programs all getting recruiters at the same time and fighting for the cream of the crop.

Sheeeeeeeeeesh

This ain't good. Big whiff for program changers. Everytime someone at the top my board we never get them lol. This won't be like last class unless he pulls something late.
mario will probably flip a very good prospect this year. this class wont be last years tho imo. hopefully on the field results are great so it sets up a great 25 class

lol twitter gonna tell you that was plan A all the time and to trust the evals

Yea the following class going to have to be super elite at the top of the board.

Dude got two of the biggest freaks in back 2 back classes to go tto freaking USC east.. WOW.. Harbor and Stewart
But most importantly USce played VERY well last year and vs 2/3 of the toughest teams on their schedule they showed out

**** USCe gunna have Stewart and Harbor coming off the edge. That’s big time

Mario sneakily getting burnt on the trail this year. Some good gets (Trader, Riley, Lightfoot) but so far the class is looking more like a Manny class then what we thought consistent Mario classes would look like

Why is flipping unlikely? Mario has done this before.

We perform on the field it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Objective fact: Acheampong last year DL/DE

Does it suck? Yes. Do we need DL badly? Yes.

But Mario flipping anyone wouldn't surprise me if we show out (9ish Dubs).

Weird that people are surprised by his commitment to USC. Kids visited there 10+ times and Beamer has made the DMV his second home. Great get for them.
Its freaking USC EAST.. Its not like they have a track record of long time success, this is a top 5 player across the board so yea I get it..

They dont have a history of getting talent like that but this is a unique situation for them, Beamer doing work..

Agreed. If we show well this year with a tangible product to sell the 25 class can be epic but at this point we look a bit too far removed to land a top 10 class. Gotta reset expectations a bit for 24.

Oh believe me I am aware. I was rooting for them against Clemson AT clemson because of the home game win streak and they completely dismantled Tenn the week before. Beating TWO top 10 teams in back 2 back weeks is impressive, meanwhile in coral gables..
