Duke paying 8 million to new QB

Believed.
Totally believe it. The nfl has a salary cap for players but not coaches, and still, a great QB makes 5x that of a hof head coach. So in college, with pure free agency and short eligibility, a good/great qb should do even better. So I'm surprised they aren't making $50mm plus or coaching salaries need to drop in proportion.

I do respect josh pate and his intent on only speaking of things he knows for certain (he doesn't talk about hot seat stuff, etc.) - If he's going out of his way to confirm the 8 million number is right then sheesh

wonder what that means for ewers or beck if they hit the portal?, or Mendoza?
It actually doesn't financially make sense to go to the NFL if you're Ewers. Or a good QB with hype, that is not a lock to go in the top 10.

Ward left the blueprint, and with NIL going up, that decision is only so much easier.

Ewers should in no way go to the NFL. He should 100% hit the portal. Get paid more than a 1st round pick and potentially incr3ase his stock.

💯

and for those saying some of these QBs aren’t worth it… how much money did Miami make in ROI in ticket sales, merch, etc due to cam ward. Pay Ewers, Beck, or even Mendoza whatever they want and let’s ride

That's insane and may be the straw that breaks the camel's back when it comes to NIL.

If this is true, it means the #13 pick in the 2025 draft will only make $9k more than Mensah ($8,009,345) his first two years in the league.

What would NFL free agency look like if all players were on one year deals?

Answer: The portal.
NFLPA prolly mad as **** the current CBA doesn't expire till 2031. No way NIL stays this silly and unregulated till then.

I don't know about the numbers but I do think Duke overpayed for Mensah. It was strange how he committed so early and didn't even visit better programs.
