Duke paying 8 million to new QB

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t some of these sky high numbers because they include things that are not cash payments? Like if the kid gets access to a high-end vehicle for four years, they’ll count the value of that lease as part of the compensation package.

If, and it's a BIG IF, that amount is true then it was obviously Mensah's "number."

Normally a kid like that would have taken several visits, prayed for a bidding way, and strung it a long at least for a bit to get the best offer possible. Instead he committed to Duke pretty early and quickly I might add.

Manny must have asked his agent what the "number" would be to have him skip all that, not take any more visits, and commit on the spot.

That's the only explanation I can come up with.
Manny then would of offered that to Ewers/Arch Manning or someone else better he aint that stoopid lol

They always throw out things like this for clicks that makes no sense to logical football recruiting followers and the crazy part is PARENTS eat those post up and think their kid will be getting this. ( im in a group with south florida parents

There was a post maybe the week before saying Micah Hudsons nil request and that was bs as well....

If manny offered this dude 8 mill..majority of his duke defense would walk off to the portal...matter of fact the starting corner for them is my hs friends son an i coached him as well i could literally call an ask how much money in nil they getting currently. lol

NIL bubble gonna burst soon when some of these higher paid kids don't deliver. (unless Duke admin are OK with 6 or 7 wins while they wait for basketball season)
This is what is SO odd to me. Like Duke is not going to be in the top 25 of odds to win a title in the next two years. So the collective or boosters are forking out this kind of money to be respectable in football and win the pop tart bowl? With legit close to zero ROI? I dont get it. And if you do have that kind of F U money, then I think you would see like an SMU type of turnaround.

Instead Duke finished outside the top 30 in recruiting for HS, outside the top 40 in transfer recruiting and are unlikely to be better next year than they were this year.

Also as a side note found it funny out of the 4-5 transfer players Duke got, one is Jaiden Francois, I faintly remember the name. Was he the kid who took like 17 breaks during his commitment ceremony then went to like wisconsin or nebraska?

Exactly...and well said.

I mean, good for the kid. Go get your money.

But if you are Duke, what exactly is your expected ROI here?? It wasn't even a 'big name' who might attract more butts in seats (Evers or Beck or that sort of name)

If you're wondering why a QB is worth that much money, check out Jayden Daniels' last minute drive yesterday, I know he's a pro, but the position is most often the difference between winning or losing. Think of us without Cam this season..,

I do respect josh pate and his intent on only speaking of things he knows for certain (he doesn't talk about hot seat stuff, etc.) - If he's going out of his way to confirm the 8 million number is right then sheesh

wonder what that means for ewers or beck if they hit the portal?, or Mendoza?

Whatever the real number is, I fully expect the NIL deals to keep going and growing. Disney and Dr. Pepper are throwing a lot of money at the ACC. Not $EC money, but still a great amount of it.

College football games are the second best bet for advertisers, and that isn’t changing anytime soon.
