So what is the best case scenario left for recruiting quality DTs this year? Are Hooks and Bryant now considered to be losses? How much can we rely on guys already on the roster?

Bryant, Bostwick, Senat still on the board. Hoping for the B's.

Also, another thread on DT's, ZOMG!!!!

Well I guess if we do not sign any DT's then we have to rely on the guys on the roster. :)

Think Bryant's just playing the game to make a big splash at the Army game.

But other than that DT recruiting has been really dissappointing for the Golden regime.

We need to pick up at least two more talented interior linemen.

So far this cycle I'd have to say DT recruiting has been dissapointing. We should have had a couple already locked down and solidly committed at this point with a couple more highly likely to turn.

Instead we are hoping for Bostwick, Hooks is an unkown, Bradley and Toby Johnson are not really in consideration, and we are hoping to turn players committed to the $EC like Dee lliner.

So would you say you're disappointed with DT recruiting?

I would say that overall Miami's Dt recruiting under Golden has been disappointing and I am particularly disappointed at how this cycle is progressing.

That clarify things for you?

It's dec 16 and we lost our only DT recruit, our next best hope might have to go prep.We went after 3 top JC DTs and all 3 seem gone as of today.None even visited and are expected to sign with their school in 3 more days.At this point it will take a great deal of work and luck by our staff to salvage this position which going into this class was a priority.

I don't think we have the whole picture. Next 6 weeks are going to be a ride.

I hope so. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the staff can find another Sapp. By that, I mean a little known player that wasn't playing DT in HS. IIRC, Sapp was a TE at Apopka that grew into being a great player. Talent evaluation has gotten a lot better since then, but hope is all we got at this point. That and hoping that the guys that we signed last year can develop

LULZ at Golden's DT recruiting coming under fire already. His first class is a total mulligan given how late he was hired and how few commits Shannvo left. Yet he still managed to sign Pierre, who will leave here a high draft pick.

He signed a couple excellent prospects last year too. It's impossible to judge freshman DTs though because they shouldn't even be near the field at that position at such an early stage in their careers.

In addition, don't discount the real possibility of developing some guys recruited at different positions (DE, TE, etc) developing into productive DTs down the road.

We need to have some perspective on the DT position, and I suggest you look to our all time greats for guidance. Can't think of any who dominated as freshman and most of them really turned it on around their third year in the program.

Do u expect kids to go from HS senior to Lombardi winner in 1 year? How about 2 years?

Incoming freshmen DTs arent typically ready to have immediate impacts as most arent physically or mentally ready.

With the way recruiting DTs has been going for us, your 'best case' could be us running a 3-4 next year.

I'm kidding of course...i think.

Everyone knows this and this is not what anyone is concern about. It's about feeling better about the future of our DL had we signed 1 of Goldman or Carlos Watkins to go along with the 3 we signed ,2 of which we only offered after missing out on Goldman and Watkins. It was about us adding 1 instant impact JC DT like Hooks to immediately upgrade our DL next year while the young kids develop. This seemed to be the plan and hope of the staff based on what we read and see developing and when it doesn't workout that way and we have to move to on to the next guys fans are going to be somewhat concerned/dissapointed.At Lb we seem to be getting our top targets, same as DB,TE we're doing fine but at DT for what ever reason we're not attracting as much impact talent as at these other positions.
