DT Tywone Malone enters Portal

For months our insiders not just on this site had been telling fans that we were for sure signing at least 1 big DT after spring. They all sounded so confident and sure that I assumed Malone hit the portal intending on signing with Miami. But once OSU got involved and he slowed/delayed his decision and visited them 1st it was clear that's where he wanted to go and we were the fallback option.

Yeah that aint happening lol

I hope ya’ll are ready for the kid I was told could be another Elijah Kancey to play significant minutes come fall.

We missed the ZODIAC on some serious difference makers inside and we will have to lay in that bed come 4 months, buckle up.

You are really overrating what we currently have… LT has all the talent in the world but is inconsistent, hopefully he takes the next step. After that, we lost our other starter last year in DJ and JHH is just okay at best. Deen is a dog by all accounts but we need way more. We can blame coaching all we want and it was an abomination last year but that’s not the only reason we went 5-7 with blowouts against Mid Tenn State and Duke. Miami has good talent in spots but we have too many holes where the talent is G5 level.
Your last sentence is dead on and nothing but the truth. But, this kid has a high likely hood of being a jag.

LT, Lichtenstein, Gore, JHH and Deen have all produced more than this kid Malone. You guys are hyping this kid up too much. The guy played only 93 snaps at Ole Miss!

He wasn't exactly competing against top Dlineman at Ole Miss for PT to only play 7.8 plays a game. Stop the madness, please.

…but if we wanted DT help badly…what does that say about their opinion of JHH?

Excuse Me Wow GIF by Mashable
Doesn't really say much. JHH is average, we know this but he fits Guidry's attacking system more than Kevin Steele's system. Thus, it's fair to expect an uptick in his production.

We have a depth issue. You need at 5, ideally 6, ready to play bodies to play DT inorder to get through a season. Right now we only have 4 proven bodies. One injury and we're in deep trouble.

People are now saying they were “ bodies “ or “ depth“ . Boy the delusion is strong. We wanted both badly. Just like Rodgers and Adeleye before spring.
It hurt and all I can think of is guarantees aren’t being met. I know it’s not a money thing. That being said I’m of the belief that the room is extremely top heavy and they need playable depth, not bodies.

Take these 2 dudes. Call it a day and recruit.

At least it's an idea. We are grasping at straws at this point.

There are a whole lot of people far too enamored with players who were unsuccessful or barely successful at another school.
Francisco and Cohen and Lee were all successful elsewhere and will be at UM.
The rest of these guys, the CB, the RB, Malone, have done absolutely nothing to show that they will be successful at UM, OR, better than the players we already have. Same with the guys we missed on. What exactly did Malone do on the football field to show everyone that he would be a star?
His best highlights are on the baseball field. Depth will come in the next 2 recruiting classes, and I know 2 years may as well be 20 years to some of you, I swear my puppy has more patience than Many of the posters on this board.

I would much rather recruit and spend NIL money on high school players like Francis and Pancake and the rest. And I’m confident we will spend wisely this season and boring in a very good Dline class. Sure it will mean some lumps but all these short term fixes that so many clamor for are like that linebacker last season from UCLA. Nothing to write home about.
If you mean Roberts by "the CB," then I understand.

Richard is our second starter at CB. Allen is our #2 RB day 1.

Our roster is littered with holes.

People keep saying this, but is it really true?

Not discounting not getting Malone. Our DT recruiting is a huge problem obviously

But I think the space eating DT part has been debunked a bit hasnt it?
We have no size at the position. It severely limits our flexibility in terms of playcalling, tactics, and rotation. It'll also get us killed against OLs that aren't just big, but also have some skill to go with that size.

Yeah, this is why I'm not buying into the incredible DT haul being talked about for this upcoming class.
You’ve come to this super negative conclusion all because a transfer wants to play for a perennial top 4 team vs joining our 5-7 football team?

We’ll be fine but we’re not at the bama, Clemson , UGA, Ohio state level and that’s not something that should be alarming or concerning to anyone

It definitely isn’t true. Héll rose and Malone aren’t even real space eaters
