DT Coach Joe Salave'a leaves to Arizona

I'll be honest, **** a Polynesian pipeline.

Utah, UCLA and BYU have the most ubiquitous Polynesian pipelines in the P4. I don't expect any of them to win a natty any time soon.

Jt calls line assignments. That's not done by the coordinator from play to play. That's just logic brother. You only get a certain amount of seconds that go into each snap and substitutions. You think the DC could be hands on with that too. It's obviously discussed when game planning where we're more likely to run that in. But it's a situational call in game.

So the DC can go "stunt-heavy", but the DL coach picks the time to call stunts and sets the personnel to do so.

But that also accents the need to have greater harmony on the staff and better communication. If the DL coach calls a stunt and the LBs and DBs are possibly unaware of the need to line up a bit differently to cover certain areas, then it will leave exploitable gaps after the ball is snapped.

Obviously, every playcall is different, it just seemed like we had many situations where, if the DL didn't get upfield fast enough, we had a lot of softness underneath that was exploited by RBs and TEs in the middle. I could live with some plays hitting for yardage if we sent blitzes that got picked up, but it frequently looked like we rushed 4 or 5 and then STILL got eaten up underneath.

****.

I mean I can't say what anybody else said. You can feel free to read what I said before the spring games the end of last season what I was saying about how things were going to look this year you guys feel free to put the blame wherever you want maybe you're a dolphins fan I don't know. But the d line has a lot of blame to go into that and if you think they didn't regress you're allowed to have your own opinions brother but we didn't even play any top o line units and we still weren't getting home half the time now am I saying a lot of that didn't have to do with injuries no not at all what I'm saying tons of it had to do with injuries. But the way we were calling the game not just as a defensive coordinator but as a unit didn't help at all.
I think for the expectations most had they didn’t play to that. But they were the least of our problems imo. We literally got out schemed majority of the games, a simple motion killed us, there was coverage busts all year. We were focusing on alignment and assignment at the end of the season lol

People expected the dline to cover up the problems but that just wasn’t realistic. Of course they weren't getting home when someone is open right away

And no im not a dolphins fan lmao, if the new dc has a respectable dline coach he’s bringing JT can go. I just don’t think he’s to blame for the dline play, and I don’t think the dline was better when joe was running it.

Also think JT evaluations at the edge have been pretty good imo, we’ll have to see if he can develop them tho.

I'm assuming the "poly" in this discussion refers to the state of the art synthetic reinforcement materials that serve as the foundation for his landing spot.

I don't know if he meant them in a racial manner or not. But in reality Samoans are very family-oriented they go around individuals that in most instances they have familial connections towards feel free to look at all the places where the Samoans go throughout college football you'll find Samoans on staff I wouldn't take that as any racial comment I would take that as simple fact losing Joe hurts in that manner
Exactly what I meant. It has nothing to do with race or racism. It’s about culture. Mario thought that Joe was a good coach or else he wouldn’t have brought him over from Oregon. Mario also realized that culturally he needed a Polynesian staff member to draw Poly kids to a school that hadn’t recruited Poly kids well in the past.

Samoa sends the highest number of players per capita to the NFL. It’s amazing for such a small island to produce that much talent. Some families have moved out of Samoa but the cultural ties are still there. especially with the old school parents, and they seem to prefer to build their communities in familial groups as they leave the islands.

Joe is gone and what does Mario do? Hire a Samoan GM from Hawaii. I’m certain he got hired because he’s qualified for his role, but the bonus is that Mario maintains a Poly pipeline.
