2025 Dorian Brew 5* CB from Conroe, TX

I've said this several times on here brother.

At a certain point either a lil faith or a lil common sense becomes necessary. Do you really believe a head coach who has a sole focus of acquiring the best talent possible, who's built a staff of dudes with connections across the country, that we would all simply ignore a state as big and as talented as Texas? Dennis Smith is on the staff **** near solely because of Texas. I understand certain frustrations. But right now this all seems like simply trying to find an issue where there is none. Not simply about people's thoughts on where we are in texas. But where recruiting as a whole at a level never seen previous to this staff. Yet still some people feel the need to pick that apart. Does it really matter where the recruits we land come from as long as it's what we need? They're not giving us a reason to question this side of the equation. Yet still some people need to.
It's the offseason. When we've added players I like: Ward, Brown, Martinez etc.. I've been supportive. I understand that using words like ignore raise antennas because I've been critical of Mario but my concern over Texas is not a dismissal of anything else. I don't have or even care to have access some of you have but the lack of traction in a top 2 producing state peaks my interest. The answer could be as simple as they are moving in silence and that's reasonable.

Im not the one starting arguments online daily on a forum for talking about our favorite team with my own team fans. Someone is hurt, its just not me.
Messaging me first then telling me I started an argument is top shelf. Hats off to you for thinking you were successful.

I didnt message u. I made a response to your post. Like everyone is free to do.

It made sense that a lot of west coast guys would be on our radar at first. Mario being the recruiter he is was probably recruiting a lot of these guys as 4th graders when he was at Oregon

But the longer he’s here at Miami building relationships I’ll be curious to see if there’s any shifts geographically

OR the lack of traction (which I'd assume simply means results here) could be because one of the teams the entire state & Oklahoma push for being UT (who spends like it's nobody's business)is just coming off a season in which they made huge gains back towards national relevance. Another team that has deep traction in that state & surrounding areas being Oklahoma had a **** good season and is turning a corner seemingly. A&m without the results will still spend in the top tier and will still be involved in the conversation for anyone they want. TCU has a decent instate fanbase where they atleast get attention. Texas is very different from Florida. Obviously there's exceptions. But for the most part Texas kids stay home in Texas OR THEY GO TO PROVEN POWERHOUSES. We're not ignoring anyone though. Just being low key about how we move.

Yeah I think given the level of spending in Texas with UT and A&M, and that generally HSers seem more likely to stick to the home-town programs when offered, I think it's just more work/cost/difficult to pull from there.

Just in general I think we should be focused almost exclusively on the big/big-ish cities (unless we find a relatively underrecruited gem like a Mcconathy) - but that kinda goes for across the country. I don't see it really being worth it (from a effort:recruiting-win ratio) to try to go after a bunch of rural kids nationally.

Like among the top producing Major cities I'd focus on:
LA & San Diego (Oregon and USC are the top dawgs but we can win battles here), Houston, Chicago (just had major success), Charlotte, New Orleans, St Louis, and obviously All florida.

And not so much focus shown to:
Atlanta (I think this is a giant SEC battleground - better to go after other cities in Georgia for the most part), Dallas (Just feel like Dallas kids are more likely to stay home than Houston kids), Philly, Detroit, etc.

Strongly disagree. Your recruiting landscape is dictated solely by position/skill available AND interest from those said recruits. When our results on field get back to where we need them to be, we'll become more prominent & outspoken in any areas we choose. For now, for appearances sake we should absolutely stay discreet. I agree with them whole heartedly that Texas needs to be a place we put effort into. However I know that we are doing that while some are gun shy I guess. One thing about Mario is in an ideal world, ain't nobody safe out there

I forgit he left. I had to look it up and that jogged my memory.

I'm not going to worry about recruiting. I used to watch highlights and then game footage of all the guys we were on, nevermind the guys we would land. I just don't care to invest that much time anymore.

We'll get what we get and maybe we'll land close to 30 recruits to bump us up high again. On a surface level, I always used average player rating as my ranking, but whatever.

With the portal, we'll be lucky to keep 30 to 40 percent of the class by their junior year. I'll learn their names then if they stick around.

Yeup. He was the first coach to offer Jadyden W. & other west coast dudes.

He is showing up he values the football cultures of Alabama and Louisiana as well with how heavily he targeted those areas since arriving. He is a truly national recruiter with his previous stops taking him all over America.

With Nick Saban leaving Alabama, Clemson stagnating a bit, there is a real chance to establish a footprint in that area.

Agreed, recruiting is Mario’s thing. Rod Wright had a connection to a 5* DLINEmen we were after, I forgot his name. I think being former teammates with JT helped Rod get the job.

At the end of the day, Mario will process out anyone who does not meet his standards.

I stopped watching HS recruits’ tape until they sign with us. No point otherwise. With the portal it’s almost pointless.
