Yeah I think given the level of spending in Texas with UT and A&M, and that generally HSers seem more likely to stick to the home-town programs when offered, I think it's just more work/cost/difficult to pull from there.
Just in general I think we should be focused almost exclusively on the big/big-ish cities (unless we find a relatively underrecruited gem like a Mcconathy) - but that kinda goes for across the country. I don't see it really being worth it (from a effort:recruiting-win ratio) to try to go after a bunch of rural kids nationally.
Like among the top producing Major cities I'd focus on:
LA & San Diego (Oregon and USC are the top dawgs but we can win battles here), Houston, Chicago (just had major success), Charlotte, New Orleans, St Louis, and obviously All florida.
And not so much focus shown to:
Atlanta (I think this is a giant SEC battleground - better to go after other cities in Georgia for the most part), Dallas (Just feel like Dallas kids are more likely to stay home than Houston kids), Philly, Detroit, etc.
