Shannon was confused and over his head and ultimately deserved to be fired. He probably lasted a little longer than he should have. In steps golden who I thought was an upgrade and this was further backed up by some of the off season talk he perpetuated in interviews and such. I even thought this new dc would have this defense rockin and Rollin. Turns out I was wrong and golden has proven that he is no better tHan Shannon and in some ways worse. He hasn't accomplished anything on the field to suggest he's the coach Miami needs to return it to its lory days.

In the end everyone here is a miami fan and wants miami to win. Something that hasn't been done as of yet by the current regime.

There seems to be the same type of confusion demonstrated but the previous regime. Golden even wanted to and did retain several coaches from a failed regime....one of the reasons n used by some as to why Shannon shouldn't have never gotten the position.

Nonetheless everything will workout and golden will weed himself out if he isn't the right man for the job which it looks to be that way. Nice talker just pathetic results.

Ok...I will bite on this one. In which ways are Golden "worse" than Shannon? I am sure that I will regret asking this question, but I am in the mood for comedy this morning.

Golden produced the worse defense in canes history
Failed to have Miami ranked at any point in year 2
Failed to beat a double digit winning team or a team that finished the season ranked

How convenient for you to nit-pick the season that everybody who isn't riding Shannon's jock knew was going to be a tough season. It isn't like people were expecting this team to be a top 10 team last year, in fact most had them being lucky to win six games with the hand that they were dealt. Don't forget which was the last UM team that people were saying could make a run and finish the season in the top 10. That would be your boy Shannon's 2010 squad which finished with a record of....yup you guessed it 7-6. What do you think the 2012 teams record would have been with Shannon at the helm?

The widely held assumption that people who dislike Dorito = Shannon supporters, has to be one of the most short-sighted and ignorant beliefs on this board.

I wouldn't expect anything less from some of these guys. Miami message boards have always been a haven for some misguided folks with severe and unresolved neurological issues.

Its what they have to resort to. Golden hasn't given them anything to go by from an on the field stand point so they have to resort to perpetuating accusations to draw attention away from the root problem and facts.

Most of these guys are non athletic types who think by rooting, cheering and intern wearing a miaim tee- shirt exhumes a persona of who they wish they were and not who they really are.

and even with all that he's had more successful seasons in year 1 and year 2 than randy did.

No, the problem is when people like you pretend that there is a root problem with Golden. No, he hasn't lit up the college football world yet, but he also is just now getting in a position where that may be possible....in part due to his hard work and excellent recruiting. You imagine a root problem that doesn't exist.

Almost as dumb as the belief that D'Onofrio is running the defense independently of Golden.

What's this suppose to mean. No matter what angle you take the situation on d is not good. Golden never had any notable performances as a dc, his defenses didnt do anything of note at temple..same for ohnofrio. Not good no matter what angle is taken.

Don't get it twisted.

Not all people who are critical of D'Onofrio are Shannon supporters, but all Shannon supporters dislike D'Onofrio.

Not nearly as dumb. Not even close.

Dorito calls the plays and does things in conjunction with Golden.

It hasn't worked extremely well so far.

None of that has anything to do with Shannon.

1 more win? With 2 wins coming against interim coaches?

Just go look at the numbers. The defenses at UVA and Temple both improved. Temple went from triple digits and getting lit up by EVERYONE, to a borderline top-15 unit. If you don't think that's impressive, then you have a clear anti-Golden agenda.

Did Temple arguably have the best talent in the MAC? Yes. That's a GOOD thing! That tells me Golden can recruit and develop talent, which have been our BIGGEST issues over the past decade.

Golden is still relatively young in his coaching career. The season is about to start. Let's take a step back and see how things look in season three.
