Do you guys think our D can take off?

Dline leads the ncaa in pressures. A lot of our numbers are still relatively good. But, Big plays and tackling is horrendous.

We play some bad offenses coming up. We do have a chance to get some other guys in the rotation and get some confidence as group.

We aren’t going to become this really good defense, but I do think we CAN be a very serviceable defense. The other point to remember, is a lot of this is game flow. It’s much easier to have a USF/UF type of performance and hold teams the teens in points when your up and control the possessions. VT and Louisville, both games we had a chance to really pull away and go up 3/4 scores. If we do that, those games looks much different

I was really glad to see the penalties cleaned up last game especially on defense

Penalties and tackling were two things that we can absolutely improve without changing personnel or just waiting till we get better players

The poor tackling has been my biggest disappointment by far from this team this season

The DBs just need to do their job at a basic level and we're blowing teams out.

The defense can clean up their play.

Take off? Not sure the talent is there on the backend. Upfront? Yes. For sure.

Hopefully a little more popo and alderman. I think they both played better in pass pro than FM last week. Also just ride with OJ and Jadais at corner
 
2019 LSU D was better and played better teams. this defense is more like LSU 2023 until they prove us wrong. weve played pretty weak offenses and have got our asses scoped by all of them so far in conference play (aside from Lville which was the best offense well prolly see all year in reg season play). the biggest issue is the coverage busts. weve tightened up in second half games (tho the end of the VT game was unacceptable. thank god pry cant coach).

Definitely not a top 40 defense. Actually nowhere close to one. I wish we were, that would make watching these games a lot less stressful

Excuse me, I have a question.

How are we 121st in scoring defense vs ACC teams when there are on 17 ACC teams?

VT- good offensive skill talent, will probably have a 3 game win streak with 30+ points in each at 4pm tomrrow

Cal- got their stud RB for the game against us, but there’s no reason that team should have broke 20

Louisville- we have a habit of making opponent QBs look good but Shough is objectively very good, and their three losses are all by one score to ranked teams.

I think we’ve over corrected so much about ACC talent, that now we don’t acknowledge good football when we see it.

Our secondary is certainly bad, but it can be helped substantially by the d-line and some personnel changes. It will all come down to tackling.

lville had their most points ever in a loss since 1999. this d sucks
