Do we lack talent or were me, Zone and couple others right?

My team sucks too much for me to even argue this point.

407cane I'm not flaming you, but this wasn't even a marque game. VT is not a good team. We just got run by duke's b$tch..at home no less.

Exactly.

this game pretty much all but decided the acc coastal representative in the acc championship game next month, on national television in primetime. it was a marque game

behind FSU, this was our biggest game of the year

i agree with you that VT isn't good, but ACC championship is obviously always goal #1 for a team and we knew all season that this game would decide it so I don't see how anyone could not call this a big or 'marquee' game.

our best win to date has been Wake Forest, maybe GT but their season is in a downward spiral. If we beat Duke that'll be our best quality win of the season. Just writing that made me want to vomit.

We most certainly lack talent, and if you can't see that you're an idiot, but....BUT, the scheme is absolutely atrocious. If we had the 2001 defense maybe the scheme would work, but we don't, so we either need to try something else, or get someone else to try something else because this clearly isn't working. With that said, the talent is not that good either. Perryman is the "best" player on defense and he's vastly overrated (as I've been saying for weeks). He's a good LB, but that's it. He'd be fine with other LBs around him, but with garbage around him, he does not look good. He does nothing special and misses way too many tackles for someone with as much hype as he has. The scheme is horrible, but even when we have guys in position, they miss tackles, which makes it look even worse.
BS bro, our talent isn't this bad... 3 farking years and we can't cover a TE or a RB out of the backfield.

It's not bs. The talent is not elite. The talent is 7-5 to 8-4 talent. There are some good players out there, but overall the talent is overrated and was over hyped by posters on here. Coach D sucks, the scheme sucks, but a great DC would not have this same defense look like the '85 Bears.
85, agree to a point but a good/great DC gets you a few wins by scheming and playing to his players strengths. NO D does the complete opposite.

Got to man up and admit I was wrong too.

I thought we were heading in the right direction with the D.

We clearly aren't.

If Golden can't see that Dorito is a huge problem then we're in trouble. Best man or not, he has to go. Bring in a DC that runs a 4-3, aggressive D that lets the studs we're recruiting play fast and aggressive.

If you can't see the glaring problems with what we're running, I don't know what to say.

Good Co-ordinators make average players great by scheming to their strengths. What is No D scheming to? What is the strength of our defense? Can anybody name one thing we do good?

Nailed it... simple and very accurate.

Our ENTIRE fan base can see this, Golden needs to in a hurry.

this defense has been more of a problem on this team then any other thing wrong w/ this team and talent isnt the issue.

Does DUke have more talent then Miami to stop VT?... lol. D'onofrio is a joke... Miami needs to hire TROBinson at Florida as the new DC immediately.

He hasnt brought in any talent even though he keeps crying about how he needs more talent. and he is the WORST defensive coordinator ever at Miami.

Jimbo and now Beamer both call time outs, then the next play they call goes for a TD on an underneath route/play. That's all DORITOS.

"Bring in a DC that runs a 4-3, aggressive D that lets the studs we're recruiting play fast and aggressive." That is what made us a dominate force in college football.

I agree, but let me ask, what is our offensive philosophy? Are we a power running team? A passing team? WTF is our offensive philosophy? Real talk.

GT is actually currently in first place in the Coastal. They're not in the driver's seat, but since they've played more games than everyone else, and everyone else has 2 losses, they're in first place. Their season is not in a downward spiral, they've actually won 3 in a row and are 5-2 in the ACC. They play Clemson last, so unless they pull a major upset and VT loses another game, they won't win the coastal, but they're actually not having a horrible season. GT is easily our best win.

I agree, I'm just sick of people overhyping our talent. And I'm not saying that to defend Coach D. He sucks. I just don't think our talent is that good either.

Look what FSU is doing with all new coordinators and assistants. Let's cut our losses now and start fresh. Could pay dividends from day one.

At least offensively, if we are healthy
We have the talent and have shown enuf balance
No duke, hobbled and soft Morris
WR depth with injuries
DEFENSE CAN'T SAY THE SAME

Talent needs to be upgraded but when teams with much less talent than us routinely play our common opponent's offenses much tougher than we do, there is a problem. Told my brother-in-law that this game scared me because I knew that what gives Logan Thomas problems (well designed/disguised pressure and coverage) we either don't do very well or are too reluctant to do on a consistent basis. Why are we less capable than Duke and Boston College of pressuring Logan Thomas and making him uncomfortable in the pocket? Why weren't VT's wr's and backs so consistently wide open on routine crossing routes, swing passes and mis-direction passes to the TE vs Duke and BC? Having better talent than both of those teams, there is no way we shouldn't have been able to AT LEAST replicate the problems that those teams were able to cause for VT.

Our defensive coaching is a problem. For me there is just no denying it anymore...
