We've missed, I don't think theres any secret behind it.

However, I'll be real. Have a good season and LT get tons of early draft pick hype and that tone changes real quick.
That tone won’t unfortunately change until our money changes
Banking on winning to fix this is our copium bc we don’t want to accept the truth

I’m pretty sure there’s some truth to the SEC guy that was reporting that fsu is paying kids bi-weekly to keep them warm and visit while saving officials until the season. Norvell hardly ever won a recruiting battle for a top recruit until this year. They’re probably so confident in all the Chaminade kids because they’re feeding them checks to keep the line open and visit.
Yup. They’re not the only ones paying up front either. Some people here don’t want to acknowledge that it has an impact beyond staff’s control as does that wretched season we had last year which is on Mario and also hurts recruiting as does conference. They just see red and foam at the mouth to rant and blame without regards to certain material factors.

My thing is to try to be objective and fair. It’s fair to blame Mario for some aspects of what’s happening and other aspects are beyond his control such as up front under the table money but those aspects aren’t considered. They’re just brushed off unintelligently by grunting CIS Neanderthals.

There’s elements of a number of things contributing to these whiffs and it’s not all for or all against staff.

Just gotta land one of Stone or Breland. Also ensure we are ready to match the inevitable Nil offers the 3 DLine guys we already have committed will get offered leading up to NSD.

But we shouldn’t stop recruiting any of these top DLine guys. Shut could change by the end of the season.
Stone is already Trolling so best to just hope we can out bid UGA and A&M for Breland which we know how that will go.

I’m just gonna predict that as the season goes on
I’m gonna hear a lot about how Dylan russel has everyone in the Hecht excited and how even though he’s not highly rated he’s just as high on the coaches board as stone breyland feanklin Scott
That stuff’s unbearable too. For whatever reasons we’ve missed on our big targets, no one being honest with themselves should believe that all of our 3 stars are really everyone else’s 4 stars.

We’ll miss on all IMO. We don’t have the track record our competitors have and they all have extra funds as part of an under the table process we don’t utilize, plus conferences and other things.

Pretty depressing actually.

I agree. But, we were told that Mario was a recruiting gawd. It is looking more like he is ok when he out spends the competition and very pedestrian when he can't.

Whales I tell you-July, August, whales everywhere. What an over selling job.......

Yup the suck tax and the suck spiral are related. If we don't pay the suck tax, we fall into the suck spiral. Cristobal needs the top players to win games, suck tax means we have to pay more for the top players, we dont pay the suck tax so he doesn't get the top players and loses games, suck tax goes higher, and then... well, you know how it ends.

There are two ways to get out of the suck spiral - temporarily boost NIL to compensate for a bad year or win a lot of games to lower the suck tax. The problem with the latter option is that it probably won't affect recruiting until the following season (yes flips are possible, but they are statistically rare) . And if for some reason the season goes sideways (maybe even for reasons other than coaching like bad luck, injuries, etc), the suck tax goes up more and you go further down the suck spiral. If you have a coach who has proven he can win without talent, then it's not unreasonable to gamble on option 2. Cristobal is not that kind of coach (to be fair, there aren't many coaches that are capable of consistently overachieving relative to the talent).

I am surprised we didn't go the route of paying way more than other programs to give Cristobal a fighting chance to get out of the suck spiral, instead of pinning all the hopes on a great season. I believed the posters who clowned the fans worried that it looked like so much was riding on Ruiz. We were told that Ruiz wasn't even close to being the most important NIL guy, and I thought it had to be true. There was no way UM was going to hire Cristobal and just assume Ruiz was going to be the primary source for for NIL. I got fooled again.

Hopefully the coach's have figured out atleast right now this side of the store is to expensive for us. Just have to hope and pray for another Horton or two. Then hope that we don't have transcript issues with the portal like we did this year with some.
