2025 DJ Pickett 5* CB from Zephyrhills Commits to LSU

It’s never wise to speak in absolutes regarding recruiting, around signing day.

Sorry to pick on you because this is one of a thousand examples. But I have never understood why grown men don’t learn.
Will be the first to admit if wrong. His actions are telling us what we don’t want to hear

I'll never doubt Mario in recruiting. Ever. So if we land him, it won't be a surprise to me.

Does he solve all of our issues on the back end? God no. But a DB class of Pickett, Stubbs, Fitzgerald, Wallace, Antoine, Ewald, Merritt, is a good start.

And if we're crediting Chevis Jackson with OJ development, the O/U of any of those names turning out to be good starters for us is 2.5?

Pickett Sr. told On3 that they have been monitoring OJ's development on the field this season. So far have been impressed.
Seeing Frederique not only play early but also thrive in the Hurricanes secondary has been a plus for the Canes.

“We’ve watched him and been very impressed with him,” Pickett Sr. said. “Seeing him get on the field is a plus for Miami. I’ve been very impressed with him.”

“Development, development, development,” Pickett Sr. said. “That’s our biggest thing. Developing him as a football player and as a young man. Just developing my son into the best young man he can be. We want him happy, but at the end of the day, we want him to develop into a great football player. And a great young man. Someone who can be of value to the community as a leader. We’re looking for someone to help develop my son.”

The family has had a close eye on the play of Miami’s secondary this season under first-year cornerback coach Chevis Jackson, who won a national championship at LSU in 2007. Since arriving in Miami, Jackson has built a strong connection with not only DJ but his father as well.

“He has a plan for my son,” Pickett said. “Just like LSU, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, Michigan, and Georgia do. He has a plan, and we’ve been listening.”

These types of quotes always seem to follow Miami kids. The scrutiny, the monitoring of the development, etc. Does the Pickett family have this kind of scrutiny on the Florida DBs? What about the crappy play LSU DBs have been putting up? Where's the "we are watching that team closely for development" line for the other schools? Miami seems to always be the "wait and see" school and others like Florida get a pass. Meanwhile, Billy is middling in 0.500 record and we're about to enter the CFP, hopefully. Can't explain this. Well, actually, I can since it's all pretense for bags.

I got the impression that his statements were a response to a question specifically about Miami.

FU trying to get him in for a mid week visit…
