Pickett Sr. told On3 that they have been monitoring OJ's development on the field this season. So far have been impressed.
Seeing Frederique not only play early but also thrive in the Hurricanes secondary has been a plus for the Canes.
“We’ve watched him and been very impressed with him,” Pickett Sr. said. “Seeing him get on the field is a plus for Miami. I’ve been very impressed with him.”
“Development, development, development,” Pickett Sr. said. “That’s our biggest thing. Developing him as a football player and as a young man. Just developing my son into the best young man he can be. We want him happy, but at the end of the day, we want him to develop into a great football player. And a great young man. Someone who can be of value to the community as a leader. We’re looking for someone to help develop my son.”
The family has had a close eye on the play of Miami’s secondary this season under first-year cornerback coach
Chevis Jackson, who won a national championship at LSU in 2007. Since arriving in Miami, Jackson has built a strong connection with not only DJ but his father as well.
“He has a plan for my son,” Pickett said. “Just like LSU, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, Michigan, and Georgia do. He has a plan, and we’ve been listening.”
