Napier has to play this kid now. Hopefully he shows some mixup and plays well. Napier can pint to him as the future and if I leave he leaves thing. He can also salvage a class where if this kid plays well kids will want to play with him.

He totally killed sfl recruiting relationships but he could definitely identify talent. Problem is that works for other schools not directly located in a hotbed of talent like Florida.

He did have awful relationships in sfl. Richt played a huge role in repairing those for us. I was shocked to hear from multiple FL HS coaches that Golden rarely reached out to them.

seeing ward do what he did should tell you that the guys on our roster or in the recruiting cycle are not there from an ARM TALENT standpoint and athletic standpoint. DJ is a true freshman but hes got the tools we can work with and turn into what Cam is now.

Plus, I think our next portal qb needs to be a 2 year guy which means we need a FR (or possibly the right soph). Lagway makes too much sense plus there are a lot of TX connections AND Mario was recruiting him heavily in the last cycle. Only thing that might keep him away from us is baseball.

All that said, if he continues to excel on the field this year, Florida will throw all the money they have and overpay him.

Listen he’s definitely talented. But this shows PFF is a joke. Three of his 20+ yard passes were for TDs against Samford.

1 in garbage time blowing out Mississippi State

1 subbing in against powerhouse UCF

1 at the end of the TN game, ended up 9/17 98 1-1

I can continue….

Most important stats are he’s a sub 60% passer with a 9/6 TD/INT ratio currently

UF must be paying ESPN for marketing services because I can’t recall such a meh freshman year being hyped this much. I understand UF fans enthusiasm for the future but **** he’s a freshman that’s looked like most freshmen.

I added to my last post (hit reply too quickly). I 100% understand UF fans hype. We would feel the same. But for such a meh freshman season the national hype seems wild. He’s only lit Samford up and then some ok plays with highs and lows…like most talented freshmen.

I do think he has a bright future and 100% hope we kick the tires during the portal. I just think the current hype is unwarranted and misrepresented with that PFF stat.

Who cares about the deep ball when you’re 50-60% passer overall. Against UK he ends up 50% 250 yards no TD 1 INT but has a 58 yard passes contributing to this PFF stat.

There are thousands of people on here and 3 of them slobbered over Emory. Most people here do not want to start next season with Emory under center.
