DJ Ivey impressing

So our coaching failed DJ Ivey at um?

Everybody made mistakes including him.

What bothered me is that the narrative around him hurt his confidence and thus hurt his performance. Maybe he needs to get thicker skin, but he’s overcome a lot in his life (including a torn ACL as a rookie) and shown plenty of resilience. The constant jeering didn’t help anybody.

A redemption story like Ivey's is only known in the inner-most fan circles of college football teams. Because only we know what the player had to go through to get to where he is now.

This kid would have transferred in two seconds in the current state to a team that embraced him.

For better or for worse, this kid getting railed by our fanbase may have made him who he his today. A 2nd year pro who is exceling in big slot coverage a year off an ACL tear.

His story is actually crazy.

Lets wait till after his NFL career before we anoint someone, everyone can have good plays. Lets see how the Bengals value him and other teams later on in his career.

That's the main thing with him. He came in a VERY confident kid. All the tearing him down broke him. Took a lot to build himself back up. Hes a great kid and super proud of him. Glad he's at a spot that has tons of confidence in him and supports him through think and thin.

The Bengals love DJ. And they've already showed exactly how much they value him. To have a torn ACL as a rookie that wasn't an early round draft pick & not get cut is huge in itself. It's even bigger that the minute he got cleared, he was back on the field taking meaningful snaps. That's showing exactly what they think of him.

This. He is a backup on one of the worst defenses in the NFL. They might be even worse than Canes d this year. Played a whole 51 snaps this season.
