Disaster to end the cycle

I'm all in all the portal and not just saying that as some sort of cope.

I prefer we spend the bulk of any collective money on another elite QB.

Whoever the top QB in the portal is, we need to do what we can to secure them.

If you have an elite signal caller as we saw this year, you can mask several deficiencies.

Not sweating kids who have never played a down of college ball as long as we handle business with the guys who have.

Yesterday is going to make it open season for the mopes. Combine that with Florida spending crazy money and it’ll be rough around here.

May the Lord be with you all during this time 🙏🏿

So we’re FSU now? My we’ve come far in a year…praising going all in on the portal to deflect from HS recruiting?

Y’all don’t want posts bumped clowning this approach, I can promise you that.

Better nail every single portal eval, or we’ll suffer a similar fate.

Mario serves no purpose here if he can’t recruit. I refuse to believe we’re punting on HS recruiting.

FSU's problem wasn't with the formula, it's just they whiffed BADLY with DJ and their qb development. They have talent on that roster. With a halfway decent Qb they win at least 8 games this year.

Almost every top program competing right now has a signal caller from the portal. Some even have two stacked with a Qb in waiting from the portal (Oregon and UGA).

It's still all about the qb. Doesn't matter who you get or don't get if you don't get that qb.

What good is that, when we have a secondary like ours? Didn’t we try that experiment this year?
It got us 3rd place in the ****** ACC conference.

You seriously think we are getting another Cam Ward next season?
We’ll get someone but he’s not going to produce anywhere near Wards numbers.

10-2 seemingly isnt enough for recruits but 7-5 is
Perception! Our 10-2 looks and feels like 7-5, the gators because of marked improvement throughout the season in a tough SEC with the Toughest schedule with a True Freshman QB 7-5 looks and feels like 10-2! Every Miami unit and player on Both sides of the ball got worse as the season progressed!

espn is building them up because SEC sucks now and they have to justify all the 2-4 loss teams.

OP looks like a troll with his 62 posts.

Facts:

We had the #1 offense in the nation. Better than any other football program in the country

We had the best QB in the nation

We have one of the best TE rooms in the nation with at least one future All-Pro (Arroyo). All of the TEs played incredibly well (and consistently the whole year). Super impressive year from this group

Virtually all of our WRs made significant strides this year. As a group, they performed at a very high level consistently the whole year. Restrepo broke all time UM records (a major feat when you consider the all-time greats that he had to beat out)

Our OL played really well the whole year (except for one road game). Playing with Cam must have been awesome but also far more challenging for the OL as they had to sustain blocks way longer than usual. They had a good year. We got short yardage when we needed it a very high percentage of the time

We had ten (10) wins for the first time since 2017 and the overall trajectory is clearly very positive. We’ve won more games every year under Mario.

We dominated an SEC opponent (when they were at full strength) like none of their other opponents did.

State Champs this yr (which is a big deal).

We lost two games by around 10 points total. Those were close losses that easily could have gone our way.

We knew our secondary would be the weak link…before Damari went down in the first game. That’s the curse of Addai’s recruiting failures. Most Canes fans knew that would hurt us eventually…while Addai was still here. Our Portal adds were very good except at DB. Guidry’s scheme is very dependent on good safety play. His D looked much better & completely different last yr with Cam & James back there.

Changes will be made to fix the D. There’s a ton of young talent on DL & in the LB room. Mario is heavily focused on DB recruiting this year.

The Syracuse loss is really frustrating because we all know that a generational offense has likely been denied a chance at a Natty but let’s keep some perspective:

• Alabama has three (3) losses, including a BAD loss to Vandy & a game against lowly Oklahoma where they scored three (3) points. Yes, three (3) whole points the whole game. One year removed from Saban that’s pretty pathetic;

• Georgia has lost two games and gave up 42 points to GA Tech (and looked hopeless on D against Alabama & some others). Florida (who Miami DOMINATED) was dominating Georgia until Lagway was injured and a 3rd string QB transfer from Yale had to come in.

• UF has won only 7 games and they’ve been mediocre every year under Napier. Their D was hot trash last year. Nothing much to be excited about there.

• OSU has two (2) losses and scored a miserable ten (10) points against a mid Michigan team that couldn’t even throw the ball…at home. They have way underperformed. They only scored 13 against Oregon. Their D looked awful at times when I watched them. Straight trash at times.

• FSU: 2-10 or something. That’s atrocious. Their recruiting classes have also been bad the last 3 years so there’s almost zero hope for a turnaround there for at least 3-4 years. They are now in NorvHell as they can’t really make a change for years.

The future is bright as long as we make changes on D, continue to recruit really well, and add some impact players on D through the portal. Keep the faith!
Disagree the future is bright...have you looked at next year's schedule? 7-5 written all over it

You can't call out that the losses were close without also pointing out that we won multiple games by razor-thin margins.

7 of our 8 ACC games were competitive in the 4th quarter. We played a below average P5 conference schedule and yet almost every game came down to the final few minutes. 10-2 is a fair record for this team - which isn't good enough given the resources poured into this program, the schedule, and Ward.

Next year the schedule will be much tougher and the QB play will be worse. The future does not look bright.

We didn't try that experiment at all last year. We rode with our developmental guys at qb and they were garbage.

We don't need another Cam Ward. We just need a 25/6 type of qb.

There isn't a single recruit in this class I'd take over a top level transfer qb.

10-2 are just numbers, the eyes don’t lie we look like a 7-5 or 8-4 team. Everyone has seen it and believes it. Remember it took 3 miracles to beat VT, Cal, and Lville! We’re getting what we deserve!

This is EXACTLY how I process things. The eyes see, and the brain acknowledges common sense. (for most of us, anyway) Your eyes work and you could see the weakness in the UF game. If the coaching wasn't so atrocious, we would've lost. They have athletes that could match up with ours, just not put in the position to do so. But, I said nothing because i noticed a change in Mario's coaching style....we were passing in the 4th qtr and I was proud.

There were run defense signs all over the field. Looked the same as last year. Then came the Heisman Trophy qbs on every team we played. **** was wild. the defense locked down in the red zone, but teams were getting there in the first place a mind boggling. But again, we were winning an lighting up the scoreboard. I said nothing out loud. (sorta.)

I'm actually fine winning 10 games this year. I don't really see the season as a failure. But I don't see it as a stepping stone to better seasons either. I wasn't in the hire Mario crowd when he was hired, but the recruiting ability allowed me to be ok with the hire to see where it goes. I still believe you and out athlete teams with mediocre coaching.

Then came NIL. My first thought, Mario with checks should absolutely DEMOLISH recruiting. Turns out...nope, only need the money these days. This season's recruiting is indicative of that. Not because we have a slightly above average class, but because we have been recruiting to FLIP prospects since before the season even started. If the recruiting was good, we would spend the season trying to keep recruits committed to us by staving off higher bids. (ala last week+next upcoming week)

The money is doing the recruiting and failure to see that will lead many to be disappointed in the finish. My thoughts on it, we fielded better teams (overall) that were free, but we're not getting anywhere closer to elite with 2 classes 10+ 3 star athletes. That's 25 percent of the roster, 1/2 of a signing class. And that's how we end up starting the Jaden Harris' and TVDs of the world.

In all fairness, D$, Cribby, and all the other insiders even noted the defense didn't look great in the spring and fall practice. Not a lot of people listened. But seeing what we saw last year on O, if someone says the offense won practice...the defense is suspect af.

TL:DR-
10-2 is better than than we should've been. Mario's recruiting skills are nullified by NIL, thus, not the coach to take us to the next level but will help build a roster for unnamed coach. (unless we commit more to NIL of course.) Next year is going to be rough, enjoy the successes of this one while we can.

Jesus, f'ing Christ dude, it was a ****** ending but we're not Trailerhasse hopeless and still kicked the **** out of FU. Perspective, amigo.

Well if that’s all we strive for then hooray.

All jokes aside, truth is **** is never as good/bad as it seems. A decision has to be made though, or this thing falls completely off the rails in Y4 and Mario becomes a lame duck. That decision must come from the $ guys. Either you continue to back him and pump more $, or you pull back and we become a wounded duck and we’re in purgatory until the plug is pulled on Mario completely.

Easy for me to say what I’m about to say..but if you brought the man here and committed to investing $80M in him, I don’t see how you just cold turkey this thing after 3 years when you signed up for 10 years, lol. JMO and probably a tad bit of wishful thinking involved there but some truth in that statement too. Y3 is not when you just give up, especially when you see the parity across CFB and what NIL is doing. 🤷🏾‍♂️

In before someone says “LeT MaRiO cOoK”

If Mario can’t recruit at an elite level, he offers absolutely ZERO advantage. In fact, his atrocious gameday coaching makes him a liability overall.
Mario is doing his job in recruiting. The offense and defense are up to the OCs. Yes, he hired them, but put the blame on the coordinatorswhere it really belongs. Guidry brought in his guy as CB coach and Guidry coaches the safties. You can't praise Guidry from last year and turnaround and say it was a bad hire now blaming Mario. That's hypocrisy.

For the fans and former players blaming Mario for not going for it on 4th down with just over 3 minutes left need to settle their emotions.

The truth is thst it didn't matter if he chose to kick a FG or go for it on 4th down. If Mario chose to go for the TD on 4th down, and goal, the defense would still have to make a stop. Syracuse would have drove down and kicked the winning FG. If the defense couldn't get the ball back down 4 when you absolutelyhave to have it, they **** sure aren't getting a stop with the game tied.

I was fine with thr FG and I would have been fine with a 4th down attempt failure because I knew the defense had to make a stop in either case.

And yet we did beat all 3 of them so why don't you take your sorry *** back to whatevrer board you came from. some of the chit being posted is just straight stupid.
