Desperation

If you think the season wasn’t a complete disappointment based on the potential we had all because we won 10 games against the worst schedule we’ve ever had, I don’t know what to tell you.
Yeah I get it. I’m a sunshine pumper, my head is in the sand, I’m a slurper, blah blah blah

Based solely on the numbers, that was our best season in 20 years. Some of us don’t take that so lightly. In your quest to be right and negative, you forget this simple truth.

I don't know man. Before the season I'd say 95% of the board said they'd be happy with 10 wins and beating UF/FSU. But timing is everything I guess. People would be happier if we won 8 or 9 but won the last one? We met the benchmarks just about everyone said they wanted to be happy and no one's happy.

I had this exact argument with @WeBallinBoyz lol. We both agreed 10 wins was the bare minimum. But I argued a 10-win season didn't guarantee a spot in the playoffs, and that I would be okay with that. WBB felt like we needed to get to ACCCG and the playoffs or it was a fail. We ended up agreeing to disagree.

I'm sticking to my original opinion. We accomplished what we needed to this year. We wasted a Heisman-level QB, should have gone undefeated if not for the worst Miami secondary I've watched going back 40 years. But we ended up 10-2 for the first time in 7 years, second time since 2003, beating Vegas odds. We also dispelled the Brofense, anti-QB/WR myth that other programs were ghosting Mario with.

I have two major concerns going forward:
  1. We're more or less exactly where we were this time last season. At best, we're marginally more talented from a depth perspective. But we have just as many holes to fill in the portal, and there is literally no way we're getting a QB as dynamic as Ward.
  2. We've taken a step back in recruiting. Forget the rankings. We grabbed some talented guys at many positions. But it's incomplete, missing 5-6 difference makers where we have real gaps. At the very least we needed a DT1, another top LB, and 2 elite DBs.
How we do in the portal, and how we bounce back in high school recruiting, is a concern I didn't expect to have going into Y4 of the Mario era. He needs to fix that crisis ASAP if we have any chance of sustaining 10-win seasons.

I reserve judgement until the bowl game. That is the next step….go to bowl game and, regardless of opponent, LOOK THE PART. If we do that, it would be a Great Leap Forward.

In year 3, Dabo Sweeney let WV put up 70 points on his team in a blowout loss. Forced him to replace Steele with Brent.

I want our offense to drop 60 and everyone looks great. I want our defense to allow less than 10, or more than 45. Nothing in between. Need Guidry to have an elite performance to build momentum or completely fail so we know it's truly time to move on.

We missed the playoffs and a conference championship birth with the best offense in the country and an easy schedule. If we couldn’t do it this year, when do we do it?

You don’t have Ward or XR7 next year. We lose a lot. I don’t understand how people think everything is fine and dandy.
I’ve changed my tune. I was at copium.

The motto was “if I told you at the beginning of this season we would win 10 games would you be happy”

That’s a **** excuse

The reality is

“If I told you at the beginning of the season that we would average 45 points and have the number one offense what would you say”

Nobody and I mean fckng nobody would say “10-2 and miss the playoffs and not win the acc because we lost to a gt squad who throw for 40 yards and ran for almost 3 benjis. And then blew a 21 point lead to Syracuse”

Im ****ed!!
