Yeah, that makes sense. I'd add a 3rd DT as we're going to lose several this offseason. But that could be a portaler.

Yeah, and it's crazy still.

We need DTs. If our main competition is GaTech, I guaran-*******-tee you he will still have that GT offer in December too.

Take this tuna, and if we land some whales, release him back into the water.

They've got to be happy with the board and/or something else they're hearing. Maybe a kid on another team wants to transfer in after the season is over. It's the only explanation. Same with WR. This staff is not going to get DT wrong this class.

We have a couple of summers of data to look at with Mario and co. now and yeah the DT board this year is a very strange one to me. Not bad, just can’t really figure out what we are planning

It's not "panic", but we have to at least be concerned with "happy with the board and/or something else they're hearing".

For instance, just recently, we had "good feelings" on two WRs. Beard is a good recruiter. Our WR stats were very good last year. We have some QB quality lining up over the next two years. And yet, those WR targets went to the SEC.

Pivoting to DT, I think it is WAAAAAAY early to think about a specific kid as a transfer. So that's not the reason you say "no" to a HS DT kid. And from @DMoney and The Bank, it looks like many of our DL targets are going to be battles.

I'm not saying we won't land those "battle" guys, but it's too early and uncertain to think that we are OK here.

I think the Florida game is getting bigger and bigger in its impact. We need to stomp them.

Yes. We need to land a few DTs soon.

I don’t think UM believes the DT prospects this year are worth the high end NIL investment. Or at least not where UM should spend its money this season compared to last.

The interesting thing about any free market that recycles every 12 months is that the people at the top of the market every year believe they are worth top dollar because they are at the top of that year’s market. But the buyer may not believe that this years #1 D tackle has the same value as last year’s #1 D Tackle, and may act accordingly.

Think of this year’s NBA draft compared to last year. Though they are stuck with a rookie wage scale and have to pay the same money, there is no way the Atlanta Hawks believe the guy they drafted #1 is as good as last year’s #1 pick in Wembeyama.

DT is weaker this year for sure. Especially in Florida

So if it means we slow play that and go all in on the DB recruiting that’s good with me because we rarely see a group of elite DBs that we have a legit shot like this. Somewhat like DT last year

You’re spot on that you can’t just say year over year we can attack a position because the talent fluctuates so much. When it’s there we gotta go all in

Fully agree, Why the accept his commitment and then partially mutual ways option does not apply here?
