I like Bell, but that’s false. He chose us over the MS schools and Auburn.

8 that will be drafted huh? You must be saying some guys that haven’t played 1 snap of CFB will be drafted. Bold statement but you do you and hope you’re right.

Notre Dame, UGA, O$U, LSU, Bama must didn’t get the memo about the days of signing blue chip OL every year being over. They have signed multiple every cycle since 2022. Those were just off top of my head, I’m sure those aren’t the only schools either.

I’m not the one who will bi*ch all day about the lack of OL recruiting firepower before the actual OL play in the fall is a mess, but when you all make blatant false statements like the Bell and the blue chip OL signees statements, I will speak up.
Well then apparently Alex and Mario ( who know nothing about O lineman ) are lying right? Bell was a top juco tackle and Plazz or however you spell it was an All American. Those are facts. Alex said “ we have 8 kids right now that we signed we feel will play in the NFL) that includes Cooper 3 star McCoy 3 star who played last year and Kinsler 3 star ( Mario and Alex love him) who played some snaps. Samson and Francis I think we can agree have NFL potential. And add in Bell and DP.

Just because we are Crystal balled for some O lineman who they like but don’t have 4 or 5 stars next to their name doesn’t mean they will turn into crap. So this stupid notion that two of the best O line coaches aren’t moving the needle for some stupid *** posters is too bad. They know O lineman. We will always have O lineman here. I don’t know if they can coach to the playoffs but worrying about O lineman is laughable.

Oh and all those schools you mentioned who recruit all these 4 and 5 star lineman. Check the portal for me on how many they lost. And they will lose in the future. Our board isn’t even completely set yet. Let them do their job. They know more than we do. Look, I get what you’re saying. But I made statements based off what Alex said and I trust him. I trust that he has evaluated well. You’re a great poster. I say all this with respect bro.

Or what if the guys from 24 actually play next year? 2 years of S&C for Frankie, Kinsler, the kid from Baltimore. Gotta hit on one maybe 2. Then you have Francis is possibly pancake as your bookends. I’ll wait till the season ends before writing off kids who got here in 24.
Has anyone seen Frankie tho or that guy Juan

They are there every freaking year.

We have been hitting on them since Manny Diaz lol

Schools have no **** choice. How can you say this coming off of us grabbing who we grabbed this cycle and fsu taking our starting dt.

fsu BEST DL CAME FROM WESTERN MICHIGAN AND alBANY DO U THINKT HOSE SCHOOLS HAD A CHOICE?.
Sorry my friend, but which DL did we get from the portal that was elite coming from their former school and elite leaving UM. May be one or two. That’s my point. Most of them don’t portal. You must get your elite DL from high school recruiting.

They signed the top juco OT last year and a G/ T that played in the All American game. After signing the best O line group the year before. What are you ever talking about?
I keep trying to tell posters and even a mod this cat is a troll. But I guess that powers to be like having these types on CIS. 🤷‍♂️ I already busted him for being on his second screen name.

Are you speaking about D lineman overall ? Or portal players overall?

I have no dog in this fight and if we’re going to be taking “diamonds in the rough” I feel it’s best to do so in the area where your staff has the best expertise in so I have no problem if this is the route they choose but you’re conflating “fact” with conjecture.

Your original statement, which is what @htownkidd pushed back on was that we have 8 guys on this OL that will be drafted. Now you quoted Alex Mirabal who said “we have 8 kids right now that we signed WE FEEL WILL PLAY in the NFL” and then proceeded to list only 7 guys so I’m going to assume the 8th is Rivers.

Now while it may be a fact that they “like” all 8 guys and “feel they will play in the NFL” the fact is that only 3 of those guys have played meaningful snaps at this level to even be considered draftable in Rivers, Cooper and Francis. I think those 3 will eventually be drafted but that’s just an opinion and projecting all 8 of those guys to be drafted is far from a Fact.

For example it’s a fact that Javion Cohen was a really good player for us, it’s a fact that Mario and Alex liked him a lot and said he would get drafted. It’s a fact he will have an opportunity to play in the NFL. It’s also a fact that he went UNDRAFTED. Can you see now why Htown pushed back on your original statement?

I think both sides are right. Offensive tackle is often a developmental position, so bet on traits and throw numbers at the position. Mirabal had a bunch of developmental success stories at Oregon.

On the other hand, rankings are getting better and the Kelvin Banks, Josh Conerley, Francis Mauigoa types are safe bets to be good. I thought we’d be landing more of those guys in Year Three.

Wrong thread i think.
You're correct. Post should've been in this thread

OL recruiting has been underwhelming since the big haul a few years ago

Course i can see that. And I can see why. Htown is a good poster. I meant no aggression towards him. But I made the statement because I trust Alex and Mario with O lineman. And I mentioned McCoy and Cooper because both of those 3 star lineman have played. The bottom line is that I’ll never worry about O line recruiting with this group. They may take some kids to develop but next year when Francis leaves you’ll see that big time blue chip lineman NILed. Rather then spend on a ton of highly ranked kids only to watch them portal. And although we signed the best O line with Samson and Francis we still added a highly ranked Juco tackle in Bell, and a high school All American last year.

I’m just saying people have the right to worry about Mario. But worrying about O line is silly. But I respect the point on not all of these kids seeing the field. The ones who did played well.

You know a lot more than most of us. So you can tell me if I’m wrong. Considering lineman and players all around the country sign and many portal quickly, the staff seems to be looking at body types and figuring out if the recruit has potential. After this group of lineman leave, aka Francis that’s where the big time tackles will get their paycheck. So next year I’d expect big money to be thrown at replacing Samson.

I’m just not worried about O line and many posters feel the same. These guys know what they are doing there. Kinsler is on his way, they signed Bell and Placz after that monster class. And they portal for starters. Lee was terrific. Carpenter looks like he’s a tough SOB. And it’s June. Just because we get crystal balls doesn’t mean they are locked in. They can always make room.

2023 was the “big haul”

In 2024;
+ M. Bell looks like a player from the JUCO ranks.
+ Francavilla looks a bit suspect, I’ll admit. He just a Fr and did flash a few times in practice.
+ Plazz had offers from teams that do a good job of identifying OL talent (PSU, NC State, FSU, Buttgers)
+ Minaya didn’t get a lot of attention from other schools that evaluate OL at a high level. Gets here in the spring.

2025 class is WIP

2023 was great. Rating wise 2024 was very weak but I think there may be some finds. W plazz and bell has a lot of potential but It’s mostly developmental. For 2025 aside from maybe SJ it seems like we’re not in it for any of the highly ranked or regarded guys and taking a lot of projects again.

I know the staff can develop this position but like dmoney said more of the top guys are starting to hit here I’d like to see a little more of a mix between some high 4 stars and the developmental guys
