Deion Jackson Update

"I came back to Miami, where I lived before, a couple weeks ago," Jackson said. "I wasn't missing it, I just wanted to come back. Hopefully I can stay for good this time."

Jackson began the academic year at Hallandale on a team full of FBS talent. Now he walks through a different set of doors to attend classes.

"Instead of going back to Hallandale, I started over at South Broward," Jackson said. "I had never been there before but I felt like switching to a different school. I'll be able to graduate in the spring and I already scored high enough on my ACT."

Jackson may not be a model of consistency but one thing that hasn't wavered is where he wants to spend his future. He chose Miami way back in February and although things have changed a lot within the program, his feelings haven't.

"I'm still committed because I like the school," Jackson said. "A lot has changed but I picked Miami and not just some coaches. They're close by and a lot of people are sleeping on them."

If only it was that simple. Jackson may want to be in Coral Gables but he doesn't have the slightest clue how the staff feels about him.

"I haven't talked to them and I heard a rumor that they took the offer back," Jackson said. "I'm just trying to get in contact with them so I know what's going on. I've been calling for the longest but Coach Paul Williams doesn't pick up."
Jackson is banking on things working out rather than lining up any backup plans. If anyone at Miami is listening, he made his case for why it's a perfect fit.
"I got swag, I bring that confidence a lot of other guys don't have," Jackson said. "That's why I want everything to work out with Miami. I can't go anywhere else because other schools took their offers back too. I guess they don't know my situation but I can't control that."

Earlier in the process, Jackson held offers from Cincinnati, N.C. State, North Carolina, and Temple. He gained a reputation in the 7-on-7 circuit after an injury forced him to miss his junior season.

I wonder why Paul Williams isn't answering....

I just feel bad for this kid, man. I wish someone would ring him up and not leave him so in the dark at the very least. Sound like whatever personal problems he's dealing with are very serious.

Why would he keep calling Paul Williams?

Does he know that the entire old coaching staff is gone?

It'd be smart of him to drive down to CG and speak to the current coaches.

Man should be fired for not returning a recruit's calls ...

Someone needs to tell this kid to get into contact with JUCO schools and 4 years colleges like Marshall so that he can at least keep playing football and work towards a degree.

Kid is talented but seems to have no idea about what has gone on in the past months. If he has a family situation it is something schools should be aware of and not needlessly dismiss the kid out of hand. At this point, I just hope the kid gets into a college of some type and can keep playing football.

Will someone on this board adopt him?

It would be worth your while. Many have said he was the best football player on the south florida express last year.

If he's talking to reporters, I'm sure he can get into contact with someone from UM, at this point he should be looking at JUCO

Doesn't seem to care, how would he not even know who UM hired as their coaches? Cmon now...

he hasn't played football in 2 years?

He played 3/4 of his senior year and missed his entire junior year. Miami has room left Coach Rumph should try to find the kid.

I agree that we should try to get him but Baez and Co wouldn't just forget about a commit as talented as him. His situation must be really messed up or he would most likely have signed already

Ill be honest, I would much rather take a flyer with a grad transfer, juco kid, kid that was tossed from another program, or NQ from another school. What I don't want is a project (mentally or athletically) at this time that has 4 years of eligibility. A 1 year flyer is fine.

Some people can take this recruiting thing too far. It is clearly obvious that this "KID" has an inadequate family situation that he can't control or be responsible for. I don't know the totality, but I've heard the kid is an impressive CB with length and size. Sounds like he stayed committed to graduating and Miami. From what a get he's the type of kid that I wish we could give a chance. I know the situation with currents targets for 2017 an 2018 may prevent that, but **** this kid could use a hand up.

Dude is gifted, this is not a project player, he's just caught up in life around him and (most) of it isn't his fault. He even was proactive about the situation and was moved to mitigate the situation.

My favorite recruit from the Swag16 class next to Sam Bruce. I hope WVU, Marshall, or some SEC school pick him up.

That's a real shame. Talented kid. Hope to hear positive things about him in the future. Pulling for DJ, seems like he's trying to the right things. Agree with GatorHater, kid just needs someone to extend a hand.

Go Canes!
