Deion Jackson Update

I'm just gonna be completely real here: Jackson's not a kid you drop.

I'm aware there is a new staff, I'm aware his grades may be a concern, I'm aware he's had a lot of off the field issues.

However, this kid is a talent and I mean a serious talent. He's a physical and disruptive cornerback and this situation reminds me a lot of the Trayone Gray situation. If I was Miami, I'm doing everything I can to get him at UM, don't care about anything else.

I'm not confident he ends up at Miami in the long run, because you rarely see situations like this work out. Especially with the fact that Miami isn't showing much communication, but that's my two cents. Jackson's really talented, 5 star? no, but he's somebody who with the right coaching could be a potential 1st rounder.

I agree with what Tito said but kid has more question marks than even Trayone did.

And the kids getting pushed out have already been mentioned. Richt hasn't talked to Hamilton, Wiggins and Deion.

Idk if he spoke with Henderson but I have been told Henderson looking to move on to NC State for whatever reason that may be.

Hinson moved on for basketball reasons(apparently wasn't in Coach L's plans).

McKitty was on the verge of decommiting for months on months and I was told after his decommitment through a coach of his in Tampa, that he felt pressured by his dad(Miami fan) and Golden into committing to Miami. (McKitty following his friends to UF, Carter and Barrett)

I liked Desmond a lot and that's a drop I don't agree with, but I'm ok with it as long as we bring Richards back in the fold(which is looking good right now)

Hamilton I like as well. We have Homer and if he can get another big fry in the fold in place of Hamilton, I'll be happy.

Wiggins and Deion I like as well. Now if Richt can replace those with the likes of Shyheim, Becker, Malek, or Mullen. I'm ok.

This is all hypothetical though. Has to be done first.

We are not hurting at TE. Gamble is also a very good flex WR/TE next year in the mold like a Njoku.

People seem to be most up in arms about the Phillips situation, but Wiggins potentially being pushed out and replaced by Devron Davis seems like the biggest head scratcher to me.

Wiggins looks like a much better player and athlete than Davis. Completely understand the need for a JUCO CB considering our lack of depth at the position, but Davis is a clear downgrade from Wiggins, IMO.

I agree 01. Fair trade for Wiggins would be more of a Becker, Malek, Shyheim or Mullen. Which would be guys as good or better than Wiggins.

If Richt does indeed push out Deion and Wiggins. Needs to nab two of the four I listed above.

I don't see Lavert Hill as realistic option.

I'm not high on Devron.

FWIW he has an older brother who basically did the same thing. Stud HS player who literally disappeared before his senior year. He's not a bad kid at all, just a product of his environment with no structure around him.

Yep. Spoke with a commit of ours and he said "he ain't coming".

The story not even clear too. I've heard of him not even being at mandarin and being homeschooled.

A lot of issues aside from the whole legal thing too. I just don't see Richt taking him. I like Deion, and I would keep him in a heartbeat.... but a lot going on there. This is not the first time, he transferred last year as well.

Which is why this stinks for both sides, in the end you just hope the kid finds the right place.

He's the kind of dude who even if we land will end up never finishing his college career at Miami. He'll kept drifting around.

Based off what?

Based off of the fact the kid didn't even play two years of HS ball due to grades and moved to Jacksonville out of nowhere, only to sit out.

This kid will never play a snap at D1 school.

You're talking like he chose to do that. It is some things in life that are out of our control

It's irrelevant whether he chose to go to jacksonville or not. The fact of the matter is this kid already has HUGE Grade concerns, along with other issues. I've seen this story before and I know it ends with him elsewhere, or nowhere at all.

Im interested to see what happens with carter from louisiana, my family is from there and a lot of kids love the U there because of ed reed, we would get more kids there if we were winning, lets see if richt can swipe him

On the bright side, he'll likely do a future TV appearance. This situation has First 48 written all over it.

We see this every year. Davis seems like one of those guys who claims offers from Bama, FSU, Ohio State, etc. then winds up signing with Tulsa or Fresno.

I'm still not sure he has any of the offers he claims to have.

I'm not all that familiar with Jackson's background, but if he has all these legal issues being whispered by the "insiders" and tumult going on, then it's unfair to Trayone Gray to compare him to Jackson.

Sounds more like Willie Williams than Trayone Gray.

Let me clarify my comment: am I comparing the two players situations as people similar? No, I mean it as in it's a situation in which if your the school you're doing everything you can to get them in.

Completely agree. Davis planned to take OVs to Cincinnati and Nebraska despite claiming schools like UCLA and Oregon were in his Top 6. In fact, neither Cincy nor Nebraska were in his Top 6 earlier this month. Most of his top offers are likely as bogus as his listed 4.40 40 time on his Hudl page.

It was an unpleasant surprise that Richt offered this kid.

I would try to sign and place the kid, but I don't know **** about the kid's personal life.

Wiggins and Phillips are going to bite us in the ***, I have a feeling. Richt got an immediate boost of energy when he took over but now he is going to see how hard it to flip some of these elite kids in essentially 3 weeks of live recruiting, in my opinion.

His profiles also say he runs a low 4.4 40 and in his film he is slow. He has good hips and is a good tackler and in all honesty I see a safety prospect not a corner. I'd take him for sure but we are looking for a replacement for Artie and he's not close to that.
