Deion Jackson Update

Let me clarify my comment: am I comparing the two players situations as people similar? No, I mean it as in it's a situation in which if your the school you're doing everything you can to get them in.

Great. This isn't Jeopardy. You did not need to answer in the form of a question.

The difference in their "situations" could be exactly why you don't do whatever it takes to get him in. One guy is an incredible young man and awesome teammate who carried his HS team to overachieving. The other has a lot of whispered issues and disappeared.

Coaches who don't pay attention to this sort of stuff usually wind up signing guys who fck up team chemistry or wind up with a ton of attrition from taking too many chances on dicey characters.

People seem to be most up in arms about the Phillips situation, but Wiggins potentially being pushed out and replaced by Devron Davis seems like the biggest head scratcher to me.

Wiggins looks like a much better player and athlete than Davis. Completely understand the need for a JUCO CB considering our lack of depth at the position, but Davis is a clear downgrade from Wiggins, IMO.
We see this every year. Davis seems like one of those guys who claims offers from Bama, FSU, Ohio State, etc. then winds up signing with Tulsa or Fresno.

I'm still not sure he has any of the offers he claims to have.

Completely agree. Davis planned to take OVs to Cincinnati and Nebraska despite claiming schools like UCLA and Oregon were in his Top 6. In fact, neither Cincy nor Nebraska were in his Top 6 earlier this month. Most of his top offers are likely as bogus as his listed 4.40 40 time on his Hudl page.

It was an unpleasant surprise that Richt offered this kid.

Are we certain he even has a UM offer?

Kids resurfaced in Miami and will be enrolling at South Broward. No chance he makes it in. New Coaches have not contacted him.

well he previously was in the hallandale area....so s.broward/hallandale/mcarthur splits that area in hollywood...so about right. I have no clue how he will make it in with all the transfers..unless he is flagged as a foster kid

I wish him luck at JUCO. Hope we keep an eye on him and he doesnt fall off the grid. He **** sure has talent. If the light ever comes on for him he has All American potential.

Kid needs a couple years at JUCO and a support network. Talented for sure but he'd flake out his first week if he somehow ever made it to Coral Gables.

his frame and skills are so elite.

If he just had one person in his life that knew what the **** they were doing, he'd have a chance at buying them a house and a car one day.

Instead he probably ends up on one of those "where is he now" lists.

shame

Lol you scared old man? "Dicey characters" hide ur wife hide ur kids

As I mentioned in the 12/7 update. He moved out to Jacksonville before the playoffs for Hallandale. (not the first time he up and left his team) Apparently was not at Mandarin HS as he said because I spoke to Kearney, Richt went to visit Kearney at Mandarin. Was told as well that apparently he was being home schooled or whatever it was at the time. Also the grade issues.

It was very unlikely he would end up in the class, especially with Richt not even speaking to him.

As for the legal issues, I don't want to put the kids business out there. Just don't see how he ends up at Miami. Shame too because he had a lot of ceiling and some in the area believed he was the best CB prospect in tri-county for 2016.

shame

How about someone in his life that cares about him without expecting anything in return?

"I came back to Miami, where I lived before, a couple weeks ago," Jackson said. "I wasn't missing it, I just wanted to come back. Hopefully I can stay for good this time."

Jackson began the academic year at Hallandale on a team full of FBS talent. Now he walks through a different set of doors to attend classes.

"Instead of going back to Hallandale, I started over at South Broward," Jackson said. "I had never been there before but I felt like switching to a different school. I'll be able to graduate in the spring and I already scored high enough on my ACT."

Jackson may not be a model of consistency but one thing that hasn't wavered is where he wants to spend his future. He chose Miami way back in February and although things have changed a lot within the program, his feelings haven't.

"I'm still committed because I like the school," Jackson said. "A lot has changed but I picked Miami and not just some coaches. They're close by and a lot of people are sleeping on them."

If only it was that simple. Jackson may want to be in Coral Gables but he doesn't have the slightest clue how the staff feels about him.

"I haven't talked to them and I heard a rumor that they took the offer back," Jackson said. "I'm just trying to get in contact with them so I know what's going on. I've been calling for the longest but Coach Paul Williams doesn't pick up."
Jackson is banking on things working out rather than lining up any backup plans. If anyone at Miami is listening, he made his case for why it's a perfect fit.
"I got swag, I bring that confidence a lot of other guys don't have," Jackson said. "That's why I want everything to work out with Miami. I can't go anywhere else because other schools took their offers back too. I guess they don't know my situation but I can't control that."

Earlier in the process, Jackson held offers from Cincinnati, N.C. State, North Carolina, and Temple. He gained a reputation in the 7-on-7 circuit after an injury forced him to miss his junior season.

Hey if he still can get in you take him. Ill be damned for ALA or LSU to come down here the night before signing day, take one look at this kid and slide him in through the back door right under our noses. Like they did Eddie Jackson.
