DAY 9 PRACTICE THREAD - WITH DAY 9 INTERVIEWS

Dallas is going to make the safety group better.

I honestly think he's gonna make the whole defense better by making the unit smarter. Communication is key and Dallas understands football

I agree, kids a selfless guy and has always done what the team needed, hope he breaks put big time.

Couldn't agree more. Communication, leadership, also a big hit from a safety or an INT can create huge momentum swings. Dallas will make plays with his head and his body. Trickle down effect will be high.

Practice was supposed to start at 3:20. ... was supposed to. And the thunder just rolled by again.

Also, if you're wondering why none of us are tweeting practice updates, it's because I just heard thunder. Again. So, we're writing. Inside.

How many here will trash Golden if Kaaya starts and struggles? 75% of the posters? 80%?

easily 75%

There's nobody on this board that wants Golden gone more than I do ...and I can't speak for everyone...but I'd be a lot more upset with Golden if he starts Heaps.

I'd even go as far as to say I might give Golden somewhat of a free pass this year if he actually shows the testicular fortitude to make the right decision and go with Kaaya over the retread.

How exactly would it be showing balls to go with Kaaya? Much like yourself plenty of people would give him a pass if he went with Kaaya.

Your whole notion of the right decision is ***ed up anyway. The right decision is picking whoever is the better player for the Louisville game. Not for the future of the program. Not because one guy is the anointed one. Pick the guy who plays better in camp and the guy who you think gives you the best chance at winning. Thats doing the right thing.

Uh oh...Don Bailey got mad.

Why would he do that? Next year it will be him & Kaaya.
How much longer before Olsen asks for transfer

At this rate he will be a redshirt sophomore behind kaaya and either Rosier OR Lawson

Honestly Canes need Olsen to stay, next yr we will have no qbs with game experience besides Kaaya. Rosier is mostly likely redshirt and you don't depend on another transfer Qb

Very true but if our buddy olsen doesnt snap out of it and put the gunja down he gone bro just the reality of the situation i want him to be the player he could be but every quarterback outside of gray crow has been placed ahead of him after a shirt year that has bad news written all over it.

Yep...Dallas Crawford is a 1st team player. Head Hunter in effect.

Is it just me or does Crawford physically resemble Ed Reed?
About the same size and Crawford's beard is a week away from full on homeless guy living under the causeway.

Looking forward to seeing him play this year. Seems to just be one of those guys who are pure football player.
Not going to win any races, except against linemen, but appears to play real fast.
The anti Kacy Rodgers, who was a real good to great athlete, but played slow.

I'm not vested in who starts at QB. No one here sees every practice and really knows what's up and the only one claiming it's an obvious runaway choice is D$, so you have to at least be skeptical. But regardless of who gets the nod, I'm **** thankful our coaches brought in Heaps. That it's a Heaps/Kaaya battle says it all. If I'm going to roll with a true freshman, I'm glad he at least gets his *** pushed by competition and that we have someone on the sideline to step in if he's hurt. Very disappointed that Olsen couldn't be counted on to even fill in in that roll. I'm hoping we see some miraculous growth from him this year, or he will need to give us our scholly space back.

I haven't been active enough on the boards to keep up. What has D$ had to say in this regards?

DMoney said:
Brad Kaaya is better than Jake Heaps. Right now. By a lot. He is more accurate, takes less sacks, throws half as many picks, has better movement in the pocket, has better movement outside the pocket, has more arm strength, can see over the line, and makes more throws.

If Brad Kaaya doesn't start, I will be surprised and quite frankly disturbed. This is not based on Vine videos or reporter tweets. That's all I will say about that.

I think kaaya should start he reminds me of Andrew luck I think hes the most talented QB we have... we have a good mixture of youth and veteran's on the team I think we could bring him along slowly and still play at a high level and by week seven he could be a major player on our team... I think gray is a player also Gus Edwards needs to play fb

Dallas Crawford, Denzel Perryman, and AQM are my dudes to watch this year. Just violent and mean on the football field. I love it.

Christy Chirinos ‏@ChristyChirinos 5m
And yes, Hunter Wells and Mike Wyche got into it on another part of the field. Bunch of linemen to break it up.

Ale Narciso ‏@Ale_Narciso1 5m
Now Al Golden’s angry and yelling at Hunter Wells for starting the fight
@TheStateOfTheU

***** that Al. Them fighting is a good sign. Give them a start instead. Tried of candyass players. Nothing could be better than the big boys going at it.

#Canes practice canceled for the day, so we had a visitor in the media work room.

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 40m
Golden: The battle between Heaps and Kaaya is "too close to call" and don't make anything of Kaaya being listed as first co-starter

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 38m
Golden: WR Rashawn Scott injured in scrimmage. Says it's shoulder/clavicle -- but not same inj. as last yr., & not sure how serious it is.

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 38m
Golden: RB Joe Yearby outperformed RB Gus Edwards in scrimmage, which is why he was listed as Duke's backup. Expects Gus to respond.

Matt Porter ‏@mattyports 36m
Golden on Wyche: "still has a long way to go" with his conditioning, also had "an Achilles' deal" before he got to #Canes.
