DAY 7 PRACTICE THREAD

Are mcdermott and feliciano OK?????????

Why were they in red jerseys, easily the most worrisome information in this thread and no one's talking about it.

Seeing a little pattern at camp over the past couple of days: lots of throws to Duke out of the backfield. More than usual, it seems.

I would love to see them use Duke catching passes in the middle of the field more

Couple changes: RT Trevor Darling, RB Gus Edwards, TE Stan Dobard, LG Hunter Wells in orange.

:rustled:

Malcolm Bunche is expected to be the starting LT for UCLA.I can't believe Gadbois was so much better in the spring that it forced Bunche to transfer.Gadbois is the backup LT and doesn't even seem involved at RT.

Nice to see him rebounding from his injury. Should be good for us in the future

Antonio Crawford, who already has two picks this camp, just got a sack on Heaps.

I'll hold my excitement on Antonio for now. It's great but he was showing out last spring and fall and ended up being MIA a bit last year. He has speed though.

Tracy Howard, Jamal Carter, Antonio Crawford have been excellent in coverage today. Crawford touches Heaps on a CB blitz.

Couldn't agree more. Getting named the 127th out of 128 most efficient quarterback at the division 1 level isn't an easy feat to accomplish...you have to earn that designation.

He's a retread who's advisors did a good job identifying an opportunity where there's skill position talent and a lack of viable upperclassmen QB options to earn him a second chance and a final look at the college level. I'm 100% skeptical on him until proven wrong with his play on the field against real competition

Gonna say it again...if this is anywhere close you go with Kaaya til Ryan Williams is ready.

So you're skeptical of Heaps based on past experience, but you're sold on Kaaya, who has no experience? Not even a scrimmage?

No idea how you arrived at that interpretation...I'm not sold on any QB on the roster right now, and that includes Williams. It's the reason why I'm not holding out unrealistic expectations for some miracle run this year.

Of the available options Kaaya represents the one that has, at least as of now, a future benefit. Something worth investing in and giving him the experience now with the hopes that by next year we can hopefully start making some real noise.

As opposed to going with a 1 year retread with a horrible track record who has already bounced around a couple schools.

That's what I'm saying.

Maybe you ought to listen to the most talented guy on the team... According to Duke Heaps can read a Defense while Kaaya is having problems (only natural for a true freshman).... If this was against FIU or Savannah State start Kaaya but they're playing Louisville.... Truth is we're not winning a N.C. this year why burn Kaaya's freshman year? Let the kid learn, develop good habits and next year it's all his.... Kaaya from what I've read has worked very hard to get to this point, why throw him into the fire and rush things? If Kaaya is that much better then Heaps than by all means play him, but if it's close let him sit and learn....

Keep listening to what players and coaches publicly tell the media...it's all truth and a great indication of everything that goes on behind the scenes.

LULZ. You haven't watched a single practice, and we have a week of 2nd and 3rd hand information that we're dealing with. Yet, you claim to be better situated than anyone to judge the QB competition. Ignore everything and everyone else and listen only to the Jedi. Gotcha.

Thurston Armbrister jumps a slant on Malcolm Lewis and picks off Jake Heaps. Big party on the defensive sideline.

Heaps is a turnover machine but Golden is going to start him, smh

Might just be a helluva defensive play from a linebacker in the hip pocket of a speedy slot receiver.
Can't remember us jumping any slants last year.
I'd take this as a positive sign.

About time.

Exactly. Now, if we could just find a precise route runner to do work from the slot position and an above average pass receiving tightend, we would have the necessary tools to be an efficient short to intermediate passing team. Just move the chains.......

We already have the receivers and the TEs. We just need a QB who will get it to them.
