DAY 5 PRACTICE THREAD

Liking what I see from defensive line at Canes today. Also, Kevin Olsen is, shall we say, slightly used in practice.
@timreynolds

It's clear they are trying to force him to transfer. Ofcourse, if someone was suspended for the first game I wouldn't give him other peoples reps either.
It's clear he's being punished for being an idiot.

He's still a talented young player at a hugely influential position. They'll want him to stay around if he takes his punishment and learns his lesson.

OL is starting to become a concern of mine. Lets hope the right side and our center can get the job done

Isn't that what camp is for?

Did we really expect mid season form the first day of full pads?

3 weeks before Louisville is enough time to get things right.

Olsen was never the "likely game 1 starter.
Alright, so before Heaps came in and after RW got hurt, who was?

Olsen was the presumptive starter until he proved, for at least the 2nd time, and maybe the 3rd or 4th time, that he can't be trusted.

If you can't trust a guy off the field, you can't trust him on it. Usually leads to a transfer.
Exactly my point. So the statement he was NEVER the presumptive starter is inaccurate. Even if it was pretty much by default. No matter, that's all in the past and I truly believe better days are a lot closer than many think.

Why would they want him to stay around? They found their man.

Seems even Rosier is getting more reps than KO. And they got some prime QBs committed for the next few years.

KO realizes he has no future here. He should transfer to Rutgers before the end of camp. It's better for him and better for us too...that's another ship we can use to get down closer to 78.

Kevin Olsen on how he thinks he's faring in QB race: "I can only control what I can control. I think I’m making the reps that I get count."

I get it now...He's soft as ****

And that's hard as **** to improve upon

That sounds like not very subtle code for, "Where's the back door?"

Competition. Quality depth.

If Kaaya beats out Heaps but it's close, meaning you'd feel comfortable starting either one Sept 1 but Kaaya is clearly the more talented guy, who starts?
I think golden goes with the older guy.
Is Golden going to make that call or will he let Coley choose his guy?

Well, Golden's title is head coach, not "guy who let's his subordinates do whatever the **** they want."

After 3 years it is pretty clear the buck stops with Golden on every aspect of the football team.
"Whatever the **** they want" is a bit much. Obviously, Golden is the head coach and it's ultimately his call... but if there is no clear cut "winner" of the QB battle is it out of the realm of possibility that Coley will be given the opportunity to choose the guy he believes can run his offense the best right now?

Kicking game looks decent. No obvious problems.

Heurtelou is massive. And plays a bit ****ed off. Progres? Too early to tell.

Wells is pretty bad honestly.

Gus has been screamed at a lot in two days

Gus better get into gear QUICK!!!!

Yearby ain't taking a backseat to anyone.

Gray might be the most physically gifted athlete on the offensive side of the ball.

Cronkrite, Scarlett, and Walton chomping at the bit as well.

Gus better get it rolling before he's taking on middle linebackers in the hole.

Cream is starting to rise to the top, players like Gus, who by the way have talent arent scrubs, are gonna get lost in the shuffle because the talent coming is just better. We as fans rationalize to much, we try to make the guys we get better than they really are and that has been the case for awhile here now, but it appears we are starting to turn the corner. The players out there are starting to be what Miami players are supposed to be. We arent rationalizing and trying to make Chickillo be a pass rush demon, we have that in Chad Thomas, in AQM, in DJ, in Trent Harris. Stacking chips as another poster used to call it back on CS, que the 'its happening gif'......

I think Sunshine is on the way out. He should be practicing like a mad dog after someone stole his meat and it sounds like he is ***** footin around all soft-shouldered.

You start the guy with 30 plus starts...it's a no brainer

If Kaaya beats out Heaps but it's close, meaning you'd feel comfortable starting either one Sept 1 but Kaaya is clearly the more talented guy, who starts?

Who should in that scenario? Kaaya, hands down.

If Heaps is chosen over Kaaya despite getting outplayed and not earning the job, then it would be clear the decision was predetermined based on seniority. And that would be a big part of the problem.

Yeah, the same guy that was ranked 127th out of 128th eligible QB's last year from an efficiency standpoint.

You start the stud freshman if he's anywhere close to matching Heaps. No brainer.

They need to focus on the top two men for Louisville. If Heap or Kaaya goes down, the other one needs to be ready. Olsen won't even be traveling for that game. I think they will give Olsen this season to prove his worth. If not I see him transferring no later than December.

It would be dumb for Olsen to transfer... after this year it will be he and Kaaya... he will most likely be #2 but he'll have another shot...

and that's the question of the hour. if it's on Golden I say he definitely goes with Heaps. Coley talks like he's more inclined to take a chance on his guy, if he truly earns the job.

the moment Kaaya is declared the starter, he might as well be gone.Kaaya isn't releasing that spot & I'm sure Olsen knows that

Legit scuffle before Oklahoma drill. Courtel Jenkins and Corey King. Jenkins heated, gets coached by Jethro Frankin: "Take it out on [drill]Matt Porter

Now Ryan Mayes goes after Braxton Berrios. Two are quickly separated. First full-contact practice of camp, y'all.

Tensions running high

This **** right here is what its all about... we got us some competitors... im happy that this kind of stuff is going on... any good program has this... we have guys that won't back down, guys that have a winning pedigree... I love it...

Hallmark of Jimmy Johnson practices.
