Danny Dillard off the team

Kid was just not worth a Miami scholly, nothing against the kid and I wish him the best of luck. I will say this though, there were many that said the kid was a stud on these sites, I definitely got accused of being a mole because I didn't think this kid was good and spoke up about it. We have a couple more kids to go, I look at it as good news, the incoming talent is pushing out the kids that should not be here, only place were we still have dead weight is at DT.....

Aside from your first sentence, you sound ridiculous.

Danny Dillard might not have been "Miami caliber" but if you think he was kicked off the team as a redshirt freshman, who wasnt going to get any playing time this year anyways, b/c the incoming talent pushed him out, i would bet that you are sadly mistaken.

The only reason he would be off the team b/c of the talent, is if he left on his own like Jalen Grimble.... but Grimble was a junior so thats why i doubt that was the case/

And you think that there is "dead" weight at the DT position?? i dont even know what you are talking about.... The coaching staff likes Corey King and Earl Moore, they may not be ready until their senior years and they'll be grown men by then.

You dont have to be a starter or a star player to not be dead weight, what is wrong w/ yall?

I dont think Al Golden is kicking these guys off the team just b/c of how they look in practice....

The way Golden recruits, he likes to have guys that can sit on the shelf and develop into men before they are ready, so it's not like Danny Dillard was a finish product and Golden said thats not good enough. He was a redshirt freshman, something else was going on.

It could be that Dillard wanted out. Miami and Golden aren't the best fit for everyone. Grimble wasn't booted. A west coast kid decided to go back to the west coast. Oregon isn't Vegas but its closer than Coral Gables. Dillard might've seen he was falling behind or just didn't like it here. The offensive staff that recruited him is completely gone except for Carroll. I think its funny that people think he was forced out. He just as easily could've wanted out.

Exactly this is what makes more sense to me about the stituation.... I can see that Danny Dillard probably just wanted off the team and they let him go or if they did kick him off it was probably b/c of an off the field issue.

Al Golden says it all the time that he is worried about everything, he doesnt come off like a guy that is content w/ the Depth at every position that he has the luxury of kicking players off the team.

Plus he also said he doesnt kick players off the team just b/c of lack of on field performance so that would be contradictory to his philosophy.

Sad truth is Gus has made more of an impact than Dillard did and he was here for about an hour.

Best of luck to the kid but we brought in a few kids to play the position for a reason.

Golden: Hey, you're the 5th string RB. What do you wanna do?

Exactly.

The Don: Hey, you just got flattened by the Gus Bus, who just got here 2 weeks ago and has practiced about 3 times. He passed you on the depth chart while he was sitting out last week. What do you want to do?

Grimble left because he wasn't gonna get any playing, and reality set in for him. The reports have been coming in for Dillard for awhile now, RB just like DT are positions that were very easily up for grabs, as in show us something/ anything and you will play. Both could not show even that. The only statement I will drawback is the deadweight at DT, since we already shed some of that in Briscoe and Ivery. I still don't know about King, but Moore is a solid guy, though he is a rotation type guy, not the type that should start on a Miami DL. I agree with your last statement, just because you are not a star or starter does not mean you are dead weight, true, but I never said that. Both Grimble and Dillard were not cutting it at positions that was begging for anybody to step up and show something.

pretty sure Gus passed him on the depth chart from the practice pics thread.

D'Mauri Jones is next to go

Doubtful but could happen. However with our depth there he is probably ok. You never hear his name but he is still young.

Our depth is actually a concern. I think we only have 8 WRs on scholarship. Look what is happening up in tallahassee right now

I trust Kidd so I'd think of it as like 9. Granted they seem to go down pretty regularly, but I think we IIght at WR

I agree with this. I saw Dillard as potentially a Quad Hill-type fullback when he signed. He was never going to be a featured back at Miami. They wanted the kid to step up and be a short yardage guy or to step into the fullback role. My guess he realized he'd get little to no burn this year so he decided to transfer. Maybe he ends up at FIU or FAU or maybe a FCS school. Best of luck.

The Don is like Jack Welsh....constantly managing the bottom 10% out of the organization.

Corporations do it. Why shouldn't football teams?

Some coaches operate like that but Al Golden actually cares about all of his players and sees them as more then a potential open scholarship on the roster.

Why do you all want Al Golden to be like that anyway???.... its the complete opposite of who he is.

Miami hasnt even won anything yet but you all want him to be some cutthroat Head Coach like Nick Saban, smh i dont get it.

The majority of the time, the kid makes the decision to transfer. In this case, the kid wants to play. Dillard was not dismissed. He'll end up somewhere and the staff will support him in his ability to transfer.

Johnson did not lose his scholarship nor did Armstrong nor will Dye. They were allowed to complete their education. As a matter of fact the condition on Johnson was if he graduated in December he would be allowed to participate in Pro Day.

Yeah, who would want to emulate a coach who has averaged 12 wins a year for the last 5 years? You look for guys who can compete for playing time constantly. If a kid doesn't prove that he can compete here, he probably should look for opportunities elsewhere.

This, hope he lands on his feet somewhere else.
