Danny Dillard off the team

Grimble and Dillard are just two examples of failed Evals. If the replacements are better then it helps the team. You can't have a oat load of failed Evals and expect to have a good team.

Wrong. Golden had a very small window, for evaluations, the year they were recruited.

Yup, this goes with every fanbase, they have a hard time being objective. Exhibit A Chickillo's ranking and ceiling after the all star game. There were people on Grassy who were convinced he was a better prospect than Clowney. When a poster tries to be objective they get ridiculed and called a hater. Another example is the thread about ESPN ranking Morris as the 6th best player in the conference and posters being upset that he got shafted. If you read this board you would think we had 15 future first rounders on the roster and that we have top 5 talent nationally. You bring up Grimble, well lets bring up Grimble, how about the fact the fact SC dropped him all together and the only reason he even ended up here was because Golden was in a bind to make something out of nothing in just over a month til NSD. Dewey is another one, yeah he made the elite 11 and was coached by Detmer, but posters conveniently skipped over the part that the kid was not only a year older but switched schools he could play his senior year twice.

Now I'm not saying its all bad cause Al is righting the ship, but it hasn't been all great either and transfers like Dillard prove that. RB and DT are two positions where if you could not make any noise last year, you never deserved a scholly at the U period. Nothing personal against the kids but it is what it is.

Look I agree that technically its a good thing that Danny Dillard is off the roster b/c he is an average talent at best so now Al Golden can use his scholarship on another under the radar recruit.

But to lump Danny Dillard in the discussion w/ Jalen Grimble is ridiculous... Grimble has made a strong case b/c he's been here for 3 years that he wasnt going to be good enough to get meaningful playing time as a starter or even 2nd string (All though most of you all said the same about Luther Robinson last year as well.)

However Danny Dillard was only a redshirt freshman.... there is no ACCURATE conclusion that anybody can come up with about the type of player he is going to be. You think Al Golden recruited him to play last year??? are you serious? Duke Johnson, Mike James, D. Crawford, and E. Clements were the main guys on the depth chart. Running back was and is nowhere near as big of an issue as the DT position.

And as far as making "noise" goes.... none of our starters made any noise at DT either. O. Pierre didnt do anything until Curtis Porter came back. A player can be a "JAG" for 3 years of his college career then his SENIOR year the switch finally comes on and the guy is able to make an instant impact. case in point Brandon McGee, Mike James, Jacory Harris, Tommy Streeter and on an on....

Dont know what to say about this one... I think the kid just wanted to leave... Don't know why he left b/c he still had 4 years left to play....

Dillard came in with Duke... Both players were bad evaluations but you have to be realistic not every is going to pan out... However I must be honest the many transfers in 2.5 years is pretty alarming...
