DAILY DEBATE: What is the scariest game on Miami's schedule?

It’s really not when you only factor in FBS games, which is what you should always do when looking at stats.

Last year, Miami averaged 30.1 PPG against FBS teams. That ranked 38th in the country. That included 2 games started by Emory Williams and one by Jacurri Brown. Is there anyone who doesn’t feel that we can average 5 more points per game with Cam Ward?

That’s 35.1, which would have ranked 14th in the country last year.

LSU, Oklahoma, USC, and Oregon all averaged 40+ last season. UGA was 39.5, so put them in there. That’s about what you need to be Top 5. I’m not saying the offense has to be there or fire everyone. But jumping from 30.1 to 35 while adding Cam over TVD with Emory/Brown sprinkled in, adding Martinez in place of Parrish and Chaney, adding Brown in place of Colbie with the younger kids too, adding in a healthy Arroyo and Riley Williams…..Top 20 honestly should be the floor with this talent and versus this schedule. We play a lot of teams that had AWFUL defenses last year. 35+ PPG or GTFO.
I didn’t really clarify what I meant. I was looking at other teams in the rankings not necessarily saying our numbers would be inflated. I think it all basically averages out in the end

On paper this is the best offense we’ve had since our glory days. I suppose that’s not saying much but I expect us to roll on offense. I think people are just scared because of the Mario bro-ball narrative and us just having a history of ugly offense

Florida is a must win game. By far, the most important game, imo. A loss impacts the program more than a victory, if that makes any sense.

Exact same is true for the Gators.

A loss to Miami in the Swamp and its 50/50 SBB makes it through September

Aug. 31 Canes
Sept. 7 Samford
Sept. 14 A&M
Sept. 21 at Miss. State
Sept. 28 open

A 2-2 record ain't gonna get it

3. Syracuse, last game of the season and the big question will be have the wheels fallen off after a few losses against inferior teams? Or will we get the 2017 PITT comparisons after a good season, just need to get over this final hurdle before a conference ship/playoff run

We lose in the Carrier Dome and Mario's buyout should be finalized before the return flight lands

As far as running backs we face. Is Jaydyn ott from cal the best one? Long road trip. Time change, inferior opponent on paper, sleepy stadium. Then a good back comes out firing and hits us in the mouth if we don’t come ready to tackle

Game one vs the Gator is by far the scariest for this reason.

With NIL and the Portal and graduations, we have about a 50% roster turnover and are unsure what we will get from this team.

On paper, we look better than last year and the expectations are as high as I can remember for the past 20 or so years but we all have a bit of doubt deep inside until we see the results on the field.

Will Cam be the savior at QB ?
Is Martinez the answer at RB ?
Can this WR group provide the big plays we have been missing ?
Will Lee and Cohen be missed on the OL or will this group step up?

The D-Line on paper looks amazing. How will this translate on the field? Can they dominate ?
LB group looks better ?
Question marks in the secondary ?

Game one will answer many of these questions.
I think this oline might end up being better.

Pass rush will be tops in the ACC & considered elite nationally.

WR core will be more productive since we have a QB.

Can’t wait until the fall.

I’m not dawsons biggest fan but I think it’s important to compare our talent level to other teams. We have a deep group on offense. But where are the elite studs? Our guys are draft picks. But more like 3rd-7th rounders.

Also I never checked how much the 20th best offense scored on average. So you got me there
We have a top 10 qb, top 10 rb in the country, a top 10 wr room that has the best slot wr in the country, a top 10 TE room and a top 10 offensive line. We have studs on this offense. Didn’t Jonathon Taylor just say that Martinez looks like a first round rb?

What’s the story on them?
They have a great coach that is turning around that program around. They played Bama extremely close and destroyed Syracuse in the bowl game (45-0). They return most of their top talent

Miami can 100% win that game but I hope with an experienced QB Mario allows him to play and not bro ball
