Can someone translate this? I cant figure out what the F*CK a tweet means half the time. So who is now saying that it IS academics?

Genron (south florida pied piper) is saying that Kirkland wanted to commit a month ago, but his academics weren't in order. Seems like he recently got his test score and he didn't cut it. He then adds to a Pete tweet, that he always thought he would end up at USF, due to grades presumably.

Actually, go read the thread on twitter. The first "tweet" is about Coley. Genron dude claims he's a UM slient, was never going to FSU.

The second "tweet" is about Kirkland and USF.

They give puff pieces and are basically an extension of the PR department for every other realm of South Florida sports...they are constantly scooped by national entities...but they just can't help themselves from these awful little jabs at the University. Its a week before Signing Day and instead of writing some puff pieces of the local kids that are looking for their "day in the spotlight" they basically write this ****.

I'm just sick and tired of recruits pulling this crap (or their coaches) down in South Florida. I feel like all the success we had and the talent "uncovered" in South Florida has led to a generation of selfish "me first" kids being offered EVERYTHING from other schools. It's just a bad atmosphere where everyone feels like they're entitled to more than they really are and when they don't get the "love," they get ****ed and make irrational decisions.

How many times have we heard over the past decade that so and so always wanted to be a 'Cane, but ended up elsewhere. Most of the time it has been due to the kid just thinking he is above the law in the classroom (i.e. grades are terrible) or the kid wanted the special treatment to show-off / get the recognition.

By the way, just let this sink in again: how ridiculous is it that Kirkland, a kid that supposedly has wanted to go to UM since he first learned about football, told the head recruiting coordinator and his own coach's friend that UM was "in my top 3" at this point in the game! I mean, seriously, could you imagine if you were offered a top job offer from a company you've always wanted to be with....and then telling them, "well, you're in my top 3."

No one in their right mind says that for the place they truly want to be. NO ONE.

Which is exactly why I don't buy a fugging word The Iceman is spewing. None of the **** these dudes are saying publicly makes a bit of sense. Then, when you throw in Kirkland stating the parting had to do with academics, the whole thing becomes a toilet. The real shame here is that UM can't tell its side of the story, so all the dopes out there will just eat up the one side as if it's the truth.

I saw Kirkland said he wanted to go to UM for academics, but I don't remember reading that Kirkland said he has academic issues.

It's buried halfway through this thread, but Ice is quoted retracting Kirkland's statement 10 pages later.

You don't build a staff of recruiters and give recruiters big positions on the staff and big money only to come back and say if he doesn't want to come he doesn't want to come. Their job is to get him to come....period. Coley wasn't brought here because he's a Cuban Bill Walsh.

It's on one of the first couple pages of this thread. He was interviewed and said the parting was due to academics. Then, Lice flew off the handle at Fat Mandoo and told him to call him for the "real" story.

I was surprised to see Lice reveal Kirk's gpa to the media, as I'm pretty sure that's a very serious breach of privacy laws. I don't think school employees are allowed to reveal to the public a student's confidential academic information. Looks like Ice, in his emotional fit, might have made a major mistake. Fortunately for him, people are probably too lazy to follow up on that.

I saw Kirkland said he wanted to go to UM for academics, but I don't remember reading that Kirkland said he has academic issues.

That was Ice's interpretation of what Kirkland said. Ice said Kirkland didn't understand the question. LULZ. Kirkland actually said UM parted ways with him because of academics.

Gawd **** programs in the SEC and other big state schools have the local yokel media slurping all over them, and here u have this two bit rag that thinks its the NY Times South thinking its so professional and avant garde to trash the local University and its football program.

University of Miami has the worst people around it that constantly look to bring negativity to it. From some former players, to local radio personalities, to people that "love" the school (Luke) to the media. It's all around ****tiness and all spewed at the school.

"The recruiting process went good, I really enjoyed it, got to know a lot of people," said Kirkland, whose mother is pushing him to stay in Miami. "I got to see the fans being open with the players and how much they love the players. I had stake on every one of my visits. Biggest one was 16 ounces. The most fun was the house parties, track meets and basketball games.

"I like the Canes a lot. They're academic program is good and the bonds I have with the coaches is good. Michael Barrow was my recruiter. He's a good guy. UM is recruiting me as an offensive tackle just like everyone else."

Offensive lineman Denver Kirkland confirmed Thursday night UM is no longer in the picture for him, just a couple of hours after saying he loved the coaches and the program.

What led to this surprising news? Kirkland said he had a private conversation with UM assistant coach Micheal Barrow and Booker T. head coach Tim "Ice" Harris following the parade in which they discussed an issue that came up with him going to UM.

Was it academics? "Yeah, it was an academic thing," Kirkland said.

Is it that you didn't have the grades or test score to get in? "No, not that," he said.

Is he upset? "No. I'm still going to play college football somewhere," he said.

Kirkland said his final four is now South Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss sand Arkansas.
