Cristobal can recruit the fuqk out

He'll be fired by 2022.

I'm not sure he even sniffs better than second in his own division.

But yeah, he definitely can recruit. Good eye for talent as well.

Lets see what LOIs are actually on his desk come signing day after USC, Stanford, UCLA, Washington start taking more commitments.

Its not how you start - its how you close.

Not sure if mentioned already, but he also has a pretty good talent for coaches as well. His staff at FIU had some gems on it.

Probably why he recognized Golden as a fraud and bounced.

Exactly. Let's see how fast that new car smell wears off a dude still basking in Sabag's shine in coordination with Nike's temporary full fledged backing after he gets his culo worked by Chris Petersen and David Shaw this year. The Pac 32 isn't even that strong an overall conference and this dude is going to be like the 4th best coach in his own freaking division. And even that is being generous based on the dudes at Cal and Oregon State being unproven.

The Luigi Cultists will claim we can't judge St. Cristobal of Columbus until year 5 though.

He just beat the Gaytors for a big WR - Mycah Pittman- Kid had an 8 min. committment video Came down to Oregon and Florida. Another Gaytor tear.....
The word beat and doing it to those people for a Cali kid should not be seen as an accomplishment though.

so coaches can't learn and improve as they get older and more experienced?? Hmmm, I guess that's the only profession that is the case.

He had a ****** first coaching gig, at a very ****** program. The guy then went and learned under arguably the best CFB coach that has ever lived and you think he won't take anything from that? I hope he does really well at Oregon, continues to learn the ropes and then comes home after Richt retires and is here forever. He can recruit with the best of them and he's put one **** of a recruiting staff together there as well.

and for those that may may say Oregon always recruits well, they have NEVER recruited this well. Chip Kelly's Ducks were always in the 15-20 range in recruiting.
Some can, like Jimmy and Butch and then there are Shannon and Golden.
There are ****tier. I would argue for Jimmy in both CFB and NFL. What could have been if he would have remained in either. ****, made me a Dallas fan. I hope he does better than "really well" but look at what Boise did to them in the bowl game last year with a bunch of 2 and 3 stars. I "really" think people should chill with these recruiting ranking experts opinions.

He's always seemed like the guy who wants to go up the coaching ladder. I think he's been eyeing the next big thing and that's why he's been all around the country and sold his soul to Saban. If he manages a NFL offer I bet you he bounces first chance he gets. That's why I'd feel uneasy taking him at Miami. He would probably bolt the second a "better" program or NFL team comes calling

Does Mario have the pull or persuasive power to get done all he things cmr has done now.
A lot of overhauling was needed and many coaches did not have the desire or the capacity to do what cmr has done so far. Frost can go back to his alma mater and Luigi can go to Oregon and just add the new car smell. We can say coach or recruiter but what um needed was a CEO.
And as far as coaching goes I’ll take cmr over Luigi.

I laughed when people said he was only a good recruiter because he was at Alabama. Why tf did you think Saban hired him? It certainly wasn't for his coaching ability. I don't downplay his performance at FIU. That program has been hot garbage since he left. Although Butch Davis (speaking of great recruiters who can't coach) did manage 8 wins last year.

According to some here, Botch is the GOAT.

Having said that, Saban wouldn't do Jack **** at that school. Anyone who bases how good of a coach is at that place is a moron. It's a dead end job by and large. Much like Kansas and other schools across the country. Nobody is elevating their coaching resume there, they're just collecting paychecks.

To put FIU seasons into perspective:

8 win seasons - 2 (Mario and Botch with 1 each)

7 win seasons - 1 (Mario)

5 win seasons - 3 (Mario with 1, Strock with 2)

Those are their highest total win seasons. You aren't winning there, S. FL leftovers or not.

cristobal has proven he’s an elite recruiter, his coaching ability as a head coach still needs to be proved but I’m not writing him off

The NCAA has basically told everyone that wants to to go ahead and pay cause we’ll just act like we care and Oregon hired a saban apprentice. Not taking anything from Luigi since I am also of the mind that even kool can recruit at bama. But it has amazed me that Oregon has never been a recruiting powerhouse given the resources. If you can get a kid to tuskkkaloosa you can get a kid to Eugene. That place basically won the facilities race. Maybe it’s the Kelly stench that lingered too long and the boosters got shook. We’ll see if it relates to wins.

No its not the same. Tuscaloosa is located in a state that actually produces good div 1 talent....and borders states that are the best in the nation for recruits. And also has a history for football..where oregon aint sh*t.

Ok agreed. But would you consider it difficult to recruit there given the fan base the facilities and Nike money. As well as recent success. What about Nebraska with frost. My point was basically that they moved in to a turnkey ready home when UM needed a lot of expensive remodeling. So maybe some of you in the know can elaborate wether UM sold cmr on what was in the plan or if it was cmr that set the wheels in motion for the ipf.
There had to be someone in place here at um that was very experienced in the building and running of a top program. Not to mention the fact that at the very least he’s an adequate coach.

HUH?????? For the head role at the U......that's his **** dream job

And? how many times do we hear recruits say Miami is their dream school? How many of them actually come? Exactly.

It easy to say Miami is your dream job when your a FIU HC or a Offensive Line coach, but he has a pretty good power 5 job now. Good fan base, boosters, facilities, and in a conference he can win. Coaches don't do what ***gart did. If a coach is at a place like Purdue, Vanderbilt, or a G5 prgram then sure he would come here but he not jumping Oregon to Miami. If he does good in Oregon I doubt he leaves and he does bad then we won't want him.

This is 80 year old Phil Knight today too. That Nike gravy train isn't going to last much longer no matter what's in his will. They already just went cheap on the last hire. Oregon HAD its window and it blewwww it.

UW is the class of the NW, Oregon had their shot n blew it... UWs recruiting classes will be just as string or better regardless the * ranking system and how it feels... and the coaching staffs are vastly different too, give me Petersen, Hamdan, Lake over what Oregon has

Yep. Give me Petersen over MOST coaches in ALL of college football.

If he was here he would be going against saban and smart........coaching here is a different animal. Oregon doesnt get a prospect bama and those schools putting the full court press for of course he can get the number 4 class in bumb *** oregon

I remember when people said he only recruited well because he had the “A” on his shirt.

Why do you think they hired him in the first place?
not going against bama and uga.....if there so great why dont they get into the stevenson basket to see if they could pull him......they cant. Only special coaches can recruit at an elite level at u and theres not alot of those
