Not favoritism but poor recruiting.

Love Flagg's character. But Vilma was also a high character guy. You can have both.
This is true. You can have both. But IIRC a few of our resident geniuses didn’t exactly want to take him. I’m serious, mane. Hindsight is always 20/20, 😂🤣😂🤣

Indeed. Flagg is one guy who actually hit his ceiling. There are players loved by this board that are stacked like cord wood in the basement.
Why don't we trot him out this season and just see what happens.

I would never point this out - but some of the analysts here - emphasis on anal - have a ton of misses. In fact, if as much crap came out their butts as comes out of their mouths - they'd have crapped themselves to death before the age 10.

We all know we've had linebacker struggles for quite some time, but Flagg is one of those guys where it always kills me how hard people are on him. He may not be the perfect contemporary cover LB but the kid has classic instincts for the position - ****, he probably would have been a stud vs. the offenses of 10-12 years ago - and nothing about him or his effort has ever said anything other than he gives 200% for the U on the helmet. I know we all want to see the team do well and we've been wandering in the desert for what feels like 40 years yadda yadda but these are moments you realize these guys are just kids. Being a good kid with maturity and work ethic may not single handedly make our program a consistent playoff contender but I for one am glad a guy like that has decided to give it his all for this program.
I HAVE NO IDEA how he gets the vitrol he gets and Keontra Smith didnt.

He was wayyy ahead of him as a player last year. He gets killed because folks never wanted him in he first place...and it just continued. He isnt a terrible rotational lber...he's serviceable we know his weaknesses. He should be a special temas/rotaitonal guy here not starting long term...he may be good in spurts..if Mauigoa locks down his spot which i expect.

Corey Flagg just came up with a huge 4th down stop (jumps over the OL to hit the QB on a sneak) to seal Mizzou's win over Iowa in the Music City Bowl. If only our defense had even a fraction of that grit by the end of the season... Know he was limited at Miami with a low ceiling, but when have we seen a Miami defender in the 2nd half of the season make a play in a clutch situation like this?

Still blows my mind how the Canes could have so many talented individuals but such lackluster performance/results as a unit. Like everyone here, hoping we'll see significant changes with the D for next season - as well as a better option at QB.

He is a smart player. Intelligence helped make up for lack of athletic ability.

We have no need for smart players. Better to have DBs that can run in the 4.5s and then spin around like dreidels when a WR goes past them.

Almost as good as when he hawked down Cade Klubnik to seal the win over Clemson last year.
