Corey Flagg embracing change

It’s almost as if message boards consist of different people instead of a singular hive mind.

It's a metamorphosis only seen and experienced in this forum.
Watching CIS rate Rhett Lashlee as a meth-impaired UM OC to the next Bill Walsh is like watching a caterpillar morph into a butterfly.
It's a thing of beauty.

The difference is Flagg made the play, Brandy song it best "Almost doesn't count".

Flagg definitely would've had everyone set and aligned properly out there. He was a coach on and off the field.

You need a cerebral field general at S, LB or both to be effective. We did not have that Meesh seemed to have it then I don't know what in the world happen. The last four games is a head scratcher ... wtf
Flagg was also vocal. Not all those guys are willing to be vocal directors.

Can’t believe we are talking about Flagg on a play he didn’t actually make the tackle on. Sure he made first contact but the QB kept moving and had to be hit by two other players.

I’m not sold on Popo or Wes. Pruitt while a little undersized is our best LB. Speed, sure tackler, forces turnovers (almost got one vs Isu), iq…

Hayes could push Popo if he doesn’t pick up the new book fast.

Our D was better with Flagg out there. If nothing else, people were mostly in the right place. I swear, our D, all year long, looked lost and confused. They then took terrible angles with what looked like minimal effort to eventually get to the ball carrier.

I know he wasn't a physical specimen, but the things he did well really would have helped this team this year. I wouldn't doubt if he made the difference against a team like GT or Syracuse. Getting one **** stop here or there would have been the difference. Had he not been the one to make it, he would have been vocal enough to help get others in position.

So **** yeah, we missed him this year. Again, he wasn't some amazing player himself, but he was smart and vocal. He would have helped this D a lot more than most here think. No, not by being Dan Morgan or Ray Lewis, but by simply getting a couple guys where they need to be pre-snap. Little things make big differences. Little things that don't show up on a stat sheet.

Def but honestly 61 has been worth it
I guarantee if used correctly Francisco would have looked better, athletically he’s about the same as Shaq
the issue is that our coaches do nothing to mask weaknesses or maximize mismatches that favor us
This and very well said.

Spotty talent aside, with good coaching our D could have and should have looked a **** of a lot better.

If Kiko hadn't been asked to cover more than his box, he would have looked roughly as good as Shaq. Not a world beater. But more than adequate. I'm honestly worried about replacing him. Popo has flashed but hasn't proven he's ready yet.

Ironic that many would complain about Shaq and Pinckney but wanted them back the year after they left, then Flagg was the next in line for the ire of fans and yet if he were here this year our defense would have been better. We're never going to have another Bermuda Triangle at LB, but is it too much to ask for solid LB play? Pruitt shows a lot of promise...

There is no chance in **** that Flagg would have been better than Kiko the way Guidry used Kiko.

Quartermann >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kiko

And i dont think it’s particularly close

I love Shaq. And I'd acecpt Q > K. But >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ? Nah. You're forgetting how many times Shaq ran into the wrong gap into a blocking guard. And how many times was he asked to cover more than the box? Never as far as I can recall. Kiko was **** good in run support. Just outmatched when asked to cover.

I think a new staff that will
Play to his players strength and actually have them understand the defense instead of looking completely lost will
Make a huge difference
When dno had that defensive line playing two gap patty cake
We looked worse than trash
And we had countless argument about the actual talent bc on paper they should have been much better
Manny and kul
Plays to their strengths and we look like one of the top dlines in the acc next year
That’s why it’s hard for me to be down on our young backs bc they all have the physical traits needed
Just need the right chef to cook the ingredients
