MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

I don’t give af; it’s 2025 & I’m tired of bull ****. This whole thread has plenty of receipts saying the exact opposite. The narrative has changed every 6 months in this jawn, & now we’re some stealth assassin, playing puppeteer?

I've never trusted the narratives coming out of the Hecht ever since Paul Dee, who was a great guy but a patsy for the SEC. I don't know what @Hurracanes or Mike Ryan (he has insider connections?) seem to know. But I agree the spin factor seems high on this one.

From my perspective, the admin was happy to coast in the ACC when we didn't have the program backers lined up until 3-4 years ago, and since then, we've been trying to become relevant to improve our leverage if we were to make any move. What we didn't do is make a conference bet like SMU did in one way, and FSU in another. We have been prioritizing building up the football team and staying quiet. That's an outsider's view. I see all our risk taking with Mario, none of it with Tobacco Road.

IDK if Miami didn't join the lawsuit because it was unwinnable or they didn't have an invite to one of the power 2 or both. But considering how the lawsuit ended it's probably a good thing we didn't join it.
Originally, Miami, FSU and Clemson initiated the moves behind the scenes. Miami tried to avoid negative publicity unlike FSU. Other schools began participating as time went on. Worked out beautifully.

"Worked out beautifully" is overzealous at this stage. Until we have membership in a real league the jury is still out. Not only do we still have to pay an exit fee, but we also need an invitation somewhere.

Correct once again.

I saw some fans whining about this, but it is the way of the world and if they want to compete with Ohio State, then deal with it.

If the Yankees can have a sponsor on their pinstripes, then we can all go that pathway.
Have Sebastian patched up like Ricky Bobby in a NASCAR race?

**** yeah!

Miami working some deep Illumnati ****.

You don't even know!

Initiated what move, my ninja?! We’re still here! Lol. This is like Jehovah’s Witness saying Jesus returned per their prediction of 1914, he just did it invisibly, u know, behind the scenes. Lmao

The only thing that’s tangible is FSU said fck this ****, & pressed the issue. So let’s recap:
-1st the narrative was FSU is being the mouthpiece
-Then when **** was trending unfavorably, ya’ll clowned FSU in this very thread.
-Then when Clemson joined FSU, it was stated Rad & Clemson’s AD were working together.
-Then Rad made a public statement supporting The ACC.
-Then as **** was looking bleak w/ The B1G & SEC commenting they have no plans of expanding & no invites were given, everyone laughed at FSU & Clemson, particularly FSU & how awkward the ACC media was.

Now? Now that **** was favored in FSU/Clemson’s suit, it’s “Miami played this beautifully and got everything they wanted.” Lmao

No, FSU & Clemson played this beautifully by being aggressive & challenging the GOR language. We along w/ others just happened to be benefactors, & it’s STILL NOT HAPPENING UNTIL 2030 which is 7 yrs after the imminent prediction.

When Rad got to campus, Miami, Clemson, and FSU were already talking about how unhappy they were with the ACC media deal. The plan was for FSU and Clemson to be loud about it and go public, shake things up, and push for more info on the TV deal with ESPN.

With all the lawsuits, schools leaving the conference are getting better exit deals. Meanwhile, Miami played it smart, avoiding the PR mess and saving money in the process. We will not be in the conference in 2030. Mike Ryan is spot on with his take. But hey, believe what you want.

Miami right up there with Wake Forest orchestrating like Sinatra from Paradise.

FSU spent big money on legal fees and took a lot of arrows to have a path out of the ACC in a few years.

Miami spent zero on legal fees, took no arrows, and now has the same path out. Not to mention the fact the new unequal revenue share bodes well for Miami considering TV ratings are a big component.

I must be missing how Miami came out on the wrong end of this compared to FSU/Clemson.

You're missing it because, literally, no one has said Miami came out on the wrong end.

These people that have no contacts inside the Hecht that think they know what is going on, but they have no idea what has happened behind closed doors. The U has come out of all this with everything they could have wanted and didn't have to spend big money. If these so called know it all's can't see that, so be it.

But what yall are ignoring is really only FSU, Clemson, and Miami came out on the very positive end... Which is the point we got every benefit FSU and Clemson did, unlike most of the ACC. This isn't a result that helps NCSt/VTech really. Maybe you can say it's medium-level helpful for GTech, UNC, and maybe like Louisville. But otherwise the main benefits are for the top 3, and 2 of them had to do the suing, and one didn't.

If this was a grand plan by Miami, there would not be 2-3 years of flip flopping in this thread

We are still in the ACC. Losing ground to the Big 2 for 5-6 more years and The Voice of the Hecht Podcast calls it brilliant… while admitting Jim Phillips had no leverage

Nah man. Nah.

Uh the grand plan may have been more grand, but at the end of the day you don't just get to wave a wand, you have to deal with reality, and the reality was the way things aligned especially with the PAC dying, with how absurdly long the ACC GOR runs and the fact that dealing with it in court isn't some layup or cheap ordeal, etc... This outcome realistically is about as good as Miami could have hoped that didn't involve the GOR being completely worthless. We have a defined exit cost that is far cheaper than before. We have far larger revenue that will be distributed to us in the meantime. We gained everything Clemson and FSU did, at almost no cost, and come out looking the best.

You're not. Only the mopesters think that way.

But but but Miami to the SEC, Miami to the B1G …. ACC had no leverage, yet we’re still in it for 6 more years?

Masterful
