All your streaming service are belong to us.Disney just acquired 70% of FUBO and Disney is planning on funding an aggressive expansion of the streaming services. It is speculated that the injunction that resulted from FUBO's suit, that shut down the planned VENU sports streaming joint venture from launching this past September is now a moot issue, and VENU Sports Streaming is expected to reschedule their launch in 2025. All of this now clears the field a bit for more planned conference realignment further down the road as additional programming capabilities will now be in the hands of Disney and their joint venture partners in the VENU Sports Streaming venture. All it took was a couple hundred million $$ and the will to accomplish a goal.
“Its football independence has never been more solid. Combining revenue from NBC and ESPN -- the latter through its scheduling partnership with the ACC -- Notre Dame is believed to making somewhere north of $60 million annually in media rights. That money, plus its unique access to the playoff, are two drivers that will keep the Irish from joining a conference anytime soon.”
As I said; all these pages filled w/ Miami + ND to the B1G is wishful thinking. Swarbrick set ND up nicely. His son is an exec for Under Armour, & their media business partner’s exec is now becoming AD. ND don’t ever need to join a conference b/c as long as they have CFP rights, they r gucci. Their payout may not be along the lines of the B1G, but they won’t be nearly as behind as other schools outside of the Big 2
VENU sports is dead on arrivalDisney just acquired 70% of FUBO and Disney is planning on funding an aggressive expansion of the streaming services. After the FUBO acquisition seems like they decided it was a better use of $$$ to invest more in FUBO.
I still think it’s too early to tell how this ends for ND. If ND had one more loss this year, they’re potentially not in the playoffs. It's in our best interest that ND remain independent. Considering their recent success, they have no reason or incentive to join the B1G. Honestly, joining a conference in FB would be a downgrade for ND. They're a mover and shaker that can chart their own path. Join a conference and it becomes a lot more complicated.
I will also say this: I feel better about Miami's chances to get to the B1G today than I did a year ago. Even though our season didn't end the way we wanted too, we were a ratings hit this year and were the talk of CFB for a lot of the season. We also showed we're competitive and continue to make big investments in CFB.
I agree for the most part. I do think ND is the only non-upper SEC/OSU/Michigan team that is a lock for the CFP if they go 10-2. Not the case for almost anyone else.I still think it’s too early to tell how this ends for ND. If ND had one more loss this year, they’re potentially not in the playoffs.
SEC and B1G are still the ones in the drivers seat. They will continue to find ways to flex their muscle and block out other teams.
ND needs to be **** near perfect year in, year out in order to get in.
Does this mean FUBU + VENU link up eventually?Disney just acquired 70% of FUBO and Disney is planning on funding an aggressive expansion of the streaming services. It started to look like that ... but then Disney just shut VENU down. Not sure how their Venu joint venture partners feel about it ... but seems like they will pump $$ into FUBU instead.Does this mean FUBU + VENU link up eventually?
I was at a NAB many years back when a Comcast executive warned everyone (consumers) about being careful what they wish for. He basically said that if you think cable is expensive wait until you see what happens when the streaming services hoard content, silo their own content, and drive up price. This when streaming was a free bonus on top of Netflix’s DVD/Bluray by mail service. All your streaming service are belong to us.
But we'll be paying so much less than cable, right?
No and we aren't entering the B10 until 2030Does the Lucas situation and us potentially interfering with a “boilerplate” B1G revenue sharing contract impact our standing with the rest of the universities when we inevitably make a push to join?
Lucas was worth it I'm sure...
Indeed. Those little rascals at FSU and Clemson gave themselves a bad look by ruffling the ACC feathers.I was PROMISED staying under the radar was the plan. Not to make ANY NOISE to **** off B10 conference
