you realize just because there is a fast moving echo chamber and speculation going on, that doesn't mean that developments or timelines for some or all have changed right?

Hope that is the scenario that comes to fruition, but prefer more heavy hitters from the ACC to the B1G. Oregon Washington Miami FSU Clemson UNC and ND turn it into the ultimate mega conference which overcomes the SEC in athletics as well as academics. Obviously this is unlikely and they are likely going to be settling for others
 
Interesting listening to some of the takes. One "FSU insider" said that according to his sources inside the program the news that FSU is talking with the Big10 has all been leaked BY FSU with the primary goal of getting ESPN to put their best offer on the table regarding a low cost or no cost transitioning of FSU to the SEC within the next couple of years. If that doesn't happen then they are ready to finance whatever cost is negotiated to leave immediately and join the Big 10. According to those sources FSU did speak with ESPN yesterday and the expectation is there that some sort of announcement will be made prior to 8/15.

There is no such things as an ACC fan.. there are UNC, Duke, UVA, GT, Miami etc fans who root for the ACC. But nobody chooses their conference over their favorite school.....

I'm talking more on the administration side. There is a lot more to the UNC/ACC connection than the money and TV deal. They are so intertwined it's not easy to unwind, on top of that administrators that have all this sway over the ACC aren't going to be so quick to give up that power to have to be behind Ohio State and Michigan in the pecking order in the Big 10. There will also be far more political entanglements in North Carolina than for Miami, state and federal connections that went to Duke, NC State, Wake, etc will do everything they can to make sure if UNC bolts they don't get left behind. This isn't as easy as "fans want it."

Eh... at one point you could have said the same about Texas and Oklahoma and the Big 12 or USC/UCLA and the PAC10. The California Board of Regents tried to fight UCLA tooth and nail. Texas had so much pull over the Big 12 that they had a separate TV station and gave that up. When the writing is on the wall and the dollar signs add up, the school will move.

Agree, to a point. But Texas leaving isn't really a straight comparison. The bigXII was already a broken conference, TexasAM had already left a few years before then. There were rumors circulating for a while that Texas, OU, and a few others were considering leaving going as a block to the PAC10. Texas was already looking for a new neighborhood when they left.

Also the ACC conference operates under North Carolina law. So UNC leaving would be a pretty large step in the dissolution of the conference.

UNC can put their big boy pants on and find a way to handle their **** to make $40mm to $55mm more per year

Or cry about it and stand pat

Yeah, seems like a lot of leaks and posturing right now to serve a purpose

I'd be beyond shocked if both FSU and Clemson don't end up in the SEC.

As long as we end up in the SEC or the B1G, it's all good

Speaking of Texas are they going to be able to keep their own network…I assume that the SEC isn’t letting go forward with it….
