MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

I agree with you. Only the valuable brands will make it eventually.

How much more money would each B1G team get if they dropped: Minnesota, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Mich St, and Maryland?

SEC could drop: Vanderbilt, Kentucky, miss st, Arkansas, and Missouri.

Out of the ACC I think only: Miami, FSU, Clemson, and UNC make it.
Schools are not getting dropped. Congress would intervene as just one minimum example of a dozen why that won’t happen - at least not from sec or big ten

The networks aren't going to keep dumping $70-$80mil a year on assets that don't bring any value to them.
They do on pro leagues all the time. Outside of the nfl not all the teams in the sports being them “value”. It’s the collective association. I’m sorry nit being a **** but that’s just wrong and not how it works or is likely to work. Now, to get into the bigger boys club? Well sorry wake…

Not getting dropped... But is not being added or being left behind in current situation the same as not getting dropped? If B10 and sec split off for football that's what 34 schools? Obviously there's be some acc+B12+independent worth adding....

"It's not YOUUUUUU...it's ME..."

In the current state, no schools will get dropped. The litigation from that would be insane. I don't think any conference will want to deal with that. You'd essentially be sentencing an entire athletic institution to death by doing that.

But in the future state, as contracts and stipulations continue to evolve, there will continue to be steeper revenue splits in addition to other favorable outcomes for those tier one programs.

This is false.
You can say that now but 10 years ago nobody was predicting we'd be in the state we're in right now. NIL, unlimited transfers with immediate eligibility, PAC 12 dead, P2, etc. I'm just saying those smaller schools who are taking but not giving back will continue to be at risk with the amount of money being thrown around now.

That's because there aren't better assets to replace them with.

That's not true in college football.

Once again, this is false. There are lots of factors that won’t allow for these schools to be dropped. But carry on..
So what if just 10 schools from the SEC and 10 schools from the B1G decide to leave and form their own "professional" league because a private equity/network partner came and offered each of them $200mil/year (made up number) to do it?

What would prevent that from happening?

This thread has been around two and a half years and we've gone nowhere at all. Just a bunch of bluster and bravado that serves no purpose other than to capture attention and hold it. It's the personification of the "How do you keep an ******* in suspense?" joke.

**** this, I'm going to watch Curse of Oak Island instead.

Translation: When the ACC unravels in the next 12-18 months, ESPN can say "not our fault"

These revenue distribution adjustments for "success" and "brand" are lipstick on a pig. Big-picture wise, we're talking crumbs.

The ACC schools with aspirations of competing at the level of SEC/B1G powerhouses will still fall further and further behind in terms of money and exposure and branding.

Feel free to save this post

That’s a lot of what ifs but you can believe what you want. These conferences aren’t going to kick anyone out. If anything, the Big X and SEC are about to grow.
