MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

The ACC should have done whatever was necessary to add USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington, along with Stanford, Cal, and SMU. That would have put them in one **** of a position.
At the end of the day the ACC sealed its fate when the grant of rights was extended to 2036. Even if the schools make it out before, the league wont survive in any meaningful way

The entire "realignment" process is media company driven and it appears that the media companies are focused on "territorial" competitive issues, putting future "realignment" on hold for some time. The court mandated prohibition of Venu Sports Streaming to launch in August 2024 put a serious limit on the networks ability to add key new broadcast windows ... and that plus other infighting (Direct TV -ESPN etc) has the networks focused on THEIR structural issues for the time being.

There have been rumors of an EASN / ACC renegotiated contract that MIGHT involve a variety of unequal media $$$ payout formulas (viewership being ONE criteria; conference ranking another; ACCC game participation another), and a new termination date of 2030 ... same time slot as the date for the P2 conferences renewing media agreements. Something might happen before the February ESPN option date.

What’s the fuss?

We were in great hands with Zo, Rad and Mario leading us to the promised land…

Man this thread really went from hope to **** quickly a year ago
At least they gave us hope. That something we had none of with Blake and Manny.

Sure, they failed, but we had hope.

We had an easy way out before allowing Cal, Stanford, and SMU in.

I feel like we easily could have dissolved the conference with half the teams having a landing spot in the other 3 conferences.

SEC: Clemson/UVA
B1G: Miami/UNC/FSU
B12: VT, Pitt, Lou, NCSt (they'd probably take SMU at this point as well)

The key is getting invites or knowing you have a path into the SEC or B1G.

It was another illusion without much real substance.

Blake, Manny, Rad and Mario are currently in the same spot (the ACC) and Zo bailed as fast as he could.

With the conference dynamics shifting, it would be nice if that hope had turned to confidence, but here we sit with less hope as the men’s sports are shells of what the should be at Miami and the power 2 extend their leads

Based on this thread, the biggest obstacle appears to not be the GORs but undoing the multiple done deals of Miami to each of the other conferences…
