NBC just carried Indiana vs. UCLA in a Saturday night prime time window ffs.

The B1G and its media partners definitely need more football brands and/or programs that have won at a significant level this century to drive viewership.

Fact is, though, there are just two such schools realistically within reach: UM and Notre Dame.

Michigan
Ohio State
Penn State
USC
Nebraska
Washington
Oregon

Miami
Notre Dame

Throw in Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan State — typically solid programs with large fan followings — and that's a dozen schools that can drum up weekly interest for FOX, CBS, NBC and their affiliated platforms
Anybody who thinks
This is a long history article on media rights (fascinating read, actually), but it highlights something I said about The ACC: Signing a long term deal has hampered this conference. I’ll call it the Scottie Pippen rule, when Bulls management told him not to sign the long term contract offered to him b/c it will be below market in a few yrs, & Scottie was more concerned about long term security.

When **** hit the fan, he tried to get out the contract realizing how under paid he was compared to his production, but it was too late. These AD’s are trying to blame the conference, but in reality every school should be cleaning house for agreeing to long term stability over market value.

FSU sure they want performance based revenue?

LOL, they are so ****ed. They're going to begin begging to stay in the ACC once they go 4-8 or whatever, there are zero fans in the stadium, their 2025 class implodes, half the team portals out, and their boosters refuse to pony up more NIL and throw good money after bad.

Is the plan performance based? Or just pay Clemson and FSU more than anybody else???

The proposal, which was formulated by Clemson and Florida State and discussed by the league's presidents during Tuesday's regularly scheduled meeting, includes additional money going to schools with better ratings success in football and basketball.

Sounds like its tied to television viewership which can be manipulated based on time slot and channel they put your games on. Hopefully its adjusted every year and not a fixed rate based on the last two years which would basically just pay Clemson and FSU more than anybody else.

Not sure if this would supersede the current performance based model or be in addition to.

"Details around the new revenue structure remain murky, but leaders have reviewed a plan to create a separate pot of revenue to be divided based on media value metrics. This separate distribution would be specifically tied to a school’s television viewership ratings for football and potentially basketball."

Lot's of attractions and benefits to joining the BIG.

Location of the other member schools isn't one of them. We'll be playing in places that have the worst mid and late Fall game weather in the country.

You said it right here.

The B1G is gonna be great for Miami and vice-versa, but that travel is gonna be brutal. No way around it.

Assuming it's a nine-game conference schedule, I'd expect we'll be playing USF and UCF regularly just to try to minimize adding any additional long trips
